Line ‘em up: Predictions and Game Thread Hawaii

Would anyone care if arroyo was chewing guys out 3-4 years ago on the way to its first bowl game? Remember Arroyo blew it vs Hawaii in his last season, effort was ho hum and I didn’t see the accountability on the sidelines.

Regardless if you like Marion’s personality or not, he’s the most successful offensive coordinator in our history. Yes he chewed out Hajj, but Hajj got a TD drive going in the next series.

There’s a standard and it was clear to me that the players lost some kind of an edge after the Boise game and it lingered over the bye week. OL and the decision making by Hajj was iffy at best. That or something about playing in Hawaii that’s just tough.

Agree..

Hawaii trip has always been tough. Hawaii has a top 50 defense. Rebs weren't executing well. Marion unloaded. Next series TD.

We played arguably our worst game on offense outside of KU game and still won for F's sake. 400 plus yards and nearly 30 points (two missed FGs) Rushed for 200 plus yards vs a team giving up just over 100 a game.

UNLV was also in easy scoring distance when the game ended.

Hire a bunch of idiot coaches that think like this, and your program will not be for long. I mean come on man. You know better.

Dude already got us in a huge kerfuffle (good word btw) with Sluka BS. Get him outta here, he's a trainwreck waiting to happen. Let him go be HC at ULL or something.

Last point on this, Hajj is a 24 year old man. Not some 17-18 year old freshman. Also went to a military prep school after high school. Pretty sure he's probably less phased by Marion going in on him than the people on here so worried about it.

I thought a prevailing narrative was that if a coach doesn’t scream, he doesn’t care?

I don’t care if they are a screamer or stoic, don’t care if he’s the salt of the earth or shady.

Is he effective? That’s all that matters to me.

Glad Hawaii joined the MWC. I enjoy the UNLV-Hawaii games. Usually a good game and the fans seem to have a fondness for each other or at least each other’s cities/islands. Just a different vibe than when we play other rivals like UNR, UNM, SDSU.

Went to 2 football games vs Hawaii in my life at the silver bowl. Both had a ton of fights... Fondness ...ok , still fights though

Back during the Colt Brennan days and Timmy Chang days the Hawaii games were pretty rough. Lots of fights like you mentioned. Around the Sanchez era maybe, crowds got a lot less rowdy. Not sure what changed but the Hawaii games are a lot less uneventful in the stands than they use to be.

I get maybe not loving the dudes character.

I get questioning some of the short yardage or inside the 10 yard line play calling

He's orchestrating a top 10 scoring offense and top 40 offense in terms of total yards. We're #6 in the nation in rushing yards per game.

UNLV has moved the ball well and put points on the board both years he's been here and done it with three different types of QBs. Yet somehow he doesn't make adjustments..?

Exactly how is he hurting his resume for future jobs?

Hajj misses a ton of open players. Does not check down fast enough. He looks for White 90% plus of the time and then maybe someone else. Then runs. I truly believe that if Hajj could read the field better and when i say better i mean just above average i think we would easily be undefeated right now with a handful of blowouts.

Hajj has some faults no doubt but there are lot more issues than the QB spot.
The funny thing is, as limited as he is he is still way better than the last guy at throwing the ball and getting completions!
