Further Pac12 expansion

The Oregon St BB coach Wayne Tinkle was interviewed the other day on a Portland sports radio show and dropped a big hint about UConn. No idea if it plays out but he seemed like it was close? I didn’t hear it but it would have to be football only right? no way they leave Big East in BB

Could you imagine the travel for UConn? Wow, that would be brutal. Every single game would be cross country travel. Yeah, it's football, so only like 5-6 road games, but still, that would be tough.

Do they have a confirmed media deal dollar amount yet? I don't know how UNLV, Memphis, or Tulane could commit to the PAC without having hard numbers to use in the decision process
Sounds like they are blowing smoke. It is kind of like a random guy announcing his marriage to the Supermodel, which will be consummated some time in the future after he buys a lottery ticket and wins 1 billion dollars in the Powerball.

yeah, that's my thought also, but who knows? I do believe the story about Texas State though, as there has been a lot of smoke from numerous people about that one. But unless the media deal is significantly more than they're getting already, I don't see it making sense for Memphis or Tulane, and until the PAC/MWC legal stuff is resolved, I don't see UNLV doing anything.

must be contingent on Tulane and Memphis in additon to Texass St, so that would help a little bit with travel. I flew from Nashville (slightly closer than Memphis) to Hartford a couple of months ago and its only a 2 hour flight. So any of those schools being talked about are not bad for travel.

I heard an interview with Karl Benson yesterday (take it for what its worth) and he said UNLV and Reno make the most sense.

Don't you trust us? The media deal will be lots of millions. With Texas State the Pac captures the Houston, San Antonio, and Austin markets. ESPN, ABC, Fox, etc. are damn near drooling over this development.

And isn't the Sun Belt the top G5 conference? What a masterful swoop by the Pac. If true, I suppose we could then lower our metrics a bit and let UNLV make an offer to join us. :)

Reno?? I guess I can see that...1% annual population growth doesn't just grow on trees. They should hit 600K by 2200.

The Pac 7 commissioner is reason enough to stay away. SHE'S THE ONE THAT'S INCOMPETENT.
Don't get me started on Teresa. This (Texas State) is her idea of "swinging for the fences" as she said in September. Bitch.

I stumbled across a Utah State Board and the consensus there was that Texas State was a disappointment. So if our new bottom feeder is unhappy, how do you think WSU should feel?

But still, UNLV should love and trust the Pac. We are like a big cuddly St. Bernard.

Just take Reno and call it a day..

You guys are stupid.

Had they brought us in at the very beginning instead of trying to **** us we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Had they swallowed a little pride and brought us, USU and AFA the conference would have collapsed. There would have been no way for Gloria to reload at that point. Only two options would have remained dissolve the conference or try to merge with CUSA...

Agree.

Even better though, you would have had the 2/3 majority necessary to dissolve the MW. No poaching fees, no exit fees, and likely a lot less time paid to lawyers.

I’m not 💯 on how you would have had to navigate things so as to not violate the current MW bylaws, but I’m sure it could have been done.
