most people fall to the extremes of "chicken little" and "perfect, it's better than where we are at" when this is all said and done.

I hope people aren't expecting the roster and recruits to remain completely in tact regardless of any hiring or retainments. There IS going to be some fallout and it's can pretty significant, IMO. At the same time, it's not like everyone is leaving and some that might contemplate leaving may have a change of heart once they see slots open up.

It's just the nature of the beast and people should be prepared for the scenarios. If this team is gutted at key spots, it'll be late in the recruiting season. Anything short of a smash hire probably isn't going to be able to fill adequately. So the potential for a roster a little short on talent is there. If so, might want to tone down expectations for a season and let whoever it is try to establish themselves. (actually, depending on the hire, it might take two or three, which fans should afford any new hire regardless, IMO).

There's just no clean, precise way to hit some sort of seamlessness in talent - without a smash hire. It's the way the business goes. If UNLV goes on the cheap and decides to roll the dice, it's going to be an awfully big gamble. I don't think UNLV can afford a Hail Mary with basketball myself. Too risky.

In the end, whoever it is, I hope fans can assess the situation for what it is and have some patience instead of arriving at next year's First Look or whatever it will be called with pitchforks.
