Stumbled across this last night. Was drifting off, watching a YouTube video of an old UNLV game. Thirty years ago to the date, January of 1991. Imagine my surprise. Forgive the quality, it comes from still snapshot a VCR conversion to YouTube (provided by UNLV Runnin’ Classics). Pictured, from left to right, me, Vincent Spilotro, John Barrone (holding sign) and upper right, the big guy, Lynne Horstdaniel. Happy times, not a care in the world.
Front row in the student section. John and I were the only full time students at the time, but it was easy to forge a fake receipt from the Registrars office (very, very basic computers back then), could take it to the student union, there was no crosscheck ... and they'd print up the student ID and you'd get your free pass to the games, the hottest ticket in town. I hope the statute of limitations is up.
The sign was because there was hot talk of the NCAA possibly ripping away UNLV's national title from the year before. Obviously it didn't happen.
Tripoda - that's the bottom of the Ruby Red Sweatsuit. The jacket must be on the back of the seat. I still have that ratty old thing. I considered it a good luck charm because it went undefeated at the Mack before I retired it.
