Eff the aac we need to get into this new pac-12 thing
AAC I think might have better media deal than current MWC deal.
Eff the aac we need to get into this new pac-12 thing
UNLV was considered for sure, but maybe not to the point wher there weretGuys he saying he would 'prefer' if schools stuck together but wouldn't block any move by UNLV.
I don't think UNLV was ever considered for the PAC.
That would be great but, they've pretty much closed that door.Eff the aac we need to get into this new pac-12 thing

discussions with the school. I can see the. Being extra secretive considering MW' s united front or at least that was the impression that was given off.
I think it's all about eyeballs on TVs and UNLV has not moved the needle much recently in that regard.
I'm not sold that the PAC is done with the idea of UNLV, but they might go after Memphis and Tulane first. Not sure if they would accept. The reports that Stanford and Cal might come back is a little weird. But not out of the question.
Watching teams like UNLV being a legit playoff contender does make being in the top G5 more appealing.
Depends on what the PAC is offering.AAC teams currently get 7 million from media deal.
Why would they leave to join PAC who currently has no TV deal?
The PAC may have some guarantee with CW for a specific amount that may make it enticing. I don't know. I'm just thinking they may have something in place yet to be announced.AAC teams currently get 7 million from media deal.

Ha, we were thinking about the same things.Depends on what the PAC is offering.
Like I said these decisions are not made without some level of good faith estimate. The PAC's TV partners, mainly the CW, have a good idea what each market could offer for the contract.
The MW 4 jumped because of a notable bump from the MW contract, and likely the estimated MW contract that we would have gotten of everything stayed the same.
How high could it go? Only the people who are making these decisions knows, but I can see it get above 7 mil.

Well we were almost to the end of our contract and more than likely with an intact membership like we had it would have been a lot more money with a new contract. Look what our basketball teams added to the NCAA tourney. Hell, we had 8 schools, 4 teams, shown on CBSSports for our 2nd round games back to back where we were the only conference on for 11 hours straight. Our football teams have been doing a lot better and we were the top G5 conference. Yes, our next contract would have been a lot better. Now, we are ****ed. Our 8 remaining schools will be looking at something comparable to Conference USA money. Somebody here mentioned $750k per team. You could be 100% correct. But Is CW going as high as 7 million when current MWC deal is only around 3 ? Is there that much more value in this conference and those teams?
I don't know.

Loyal Coug is right. There is a traitor among our conference.
Here is an article from Colorado Springs, home to the AFA, related to the recent 4 MWC departures. Some good points.
Variety of scenarios could await Air Force as conference reshuffling plays out once again
There’s a chance Thursday’s bombshell Mountain West development could land Air Force in a conference with its service academy rivals.gazette.com
If we could get the AAC to invite the rest of the MWC for the 2026 season we can keep all the PAC money they will be paying and have a nice East West conference. And, as the article says it would more than likely mean we could shut down the conference with a unanimous vote. That is our best chance at this point to get the hell out of the MWC from burning down around us.Great article. Not great for UNLV possibly.

Wow, I hadn't looked into it that deep. But, I do recall that you have to have so many Olympic teams in a conference just so that the conference can sponsor that sport. For example the MWC would need to have at least 6 or seven softball teams for the conference to sponsor it. I don't believe AF has a softball team. We could be under the limit just for that one sport. I'll check tomorrow. My brain is about fried for the day. edit: And, as you said no softball from Hawaii as they are only football.I'm all for it to be honest.
One interesting point was is the MWC even a conference now? Hawaii is football only..
Hmm..
Could UNLV petition that the conference has already been dissolved?
Is that a potential avenue for early out?

Okay I checked on softball. We will be down to 5 members. That is not enough. It's the reason our men's soccer team plays in the WAC. Now the question is can the MWC allow just 5 teams. Is it an NCAA minimum. I don't know.Yeah..
This may have been a coordinated power move if that's the case. (And pretty brilliant actually) You don't need to take more than 4 because you no longer have enough Olympic sports..
We need a lawyer in here stat!

Look, I've been enjoying the past year just as much as anyone. But 1-2 good years do not make up for past failures.UNLV hasn't fallen. Right now UNLV is the darlin of the MWC in football, and if they can keep on winning will put us in a position to leave the MWC and PAC2 in our dust. We still don't know why UNLV wasn't offered, or if UNLV was offered and turned them down what the reason was for that. As for the Board of Regents, if they actually had any meeting, then there would be a public record of that meeting.

There you go. $800k per school. We might get a cool million just like what we were getting in the previous contract. NO THANKS. We need to get the **** out of the MWC.Conference USA announces new TV deal, brings increased exposure, revenue to New Mexico State
New Mexico State will enter Conference USA next year in the first year of an improved multimedia rights deal that the league announced on Thursday.www.lcsun-news.com
Have you seen the AAC? If they are getting 7, the new PAC can definitely get at least 10.You could be 100% correct. But Is CW going as high as 7 million when current MWC deal is only around 3 ? Is there that much more value in this conference and those teams?

Wazzu and Osu were left our for a reason, but they are still worth something. Remember the PaC turned down 30 mil a year before they broke up. The PAC is worth something if they are the floor of 30 mil.
I can see 10-15 per school. I think I saw an article that a new PAC of the same 6 plus UNLV and AFA would get 15 mil a while back. But ita toguh to know how accurate this dtuff can be.
I think the MW if it stayed together could maybe get 7 like the AAC for a new Contract, and the traitorous 4 jumped for a reason.
As for an AAC and MW merger. I don't see it. Lots of bloat and the only reason to do that if to be the best G5 and it wouldn't be with the new PAC. Especially since they likely take the 2 best of what is left.
That would be definitely north of 10 mil. No bloat there. Fresno would likely be the worst but they have a pretty good following.PAC 8 let's say Memphis Tulane. Might get double what current MWC deal is. I can't see it being much more than that.

I wish I was as smart as Buster.Wait why am I asking for a lawyer and @ ing @reagan21 .
He got his bachelor's in 18th century agrarian law and masters in 19th century Maritime Law.
USELESS in this scenario.
I wish I was as smart as Buster.
Regardless of where we land that is exactly the mindset we need to have. **** them. Win Win and Win. We need to develop that as the mindset for our Rebel Football program. We are on the way provided our Athletic Department is smart enough to keep Odom until he wants to retire. **** anyone that gets in our way.Looking forward to playing the defectors - FSU, BSU & SDSU - plus we get a shot at OSU. Winning our games, being the favorite for the playoff spot, and getting into the playoffs and being competitive in it will help immensely with the conference alignment. Just keep winning Rebels.
You may be right if you see the following below. Hawaii cannot be included if I understand this. All their other sports are in the Big West which is not and FBS conference. We are down to 7 active FBS members. However, as with the Pac-2 they were given two years to get back to the minimum. The MWC should also have that two years. (side note: I want to get out of the MWC at all costs).I'm all for it to be honest.

FBS conferences must meet a more stringent set of requirements for NCAA recognition than other conferences:
- A total of at least eight active FBS members.
- To be counted toward this total, a school must participate in conference play in at least six men's and eight women's sports, including men's and women's basketball, football, and at least two other women's team sports.
- Each school may count one men's and one women's sport not sponsored by its primary conference toward the above limits, as long as that sport competes in another Division I conference. The men's and women's sports so counted need not be the same sport.
