Dylan Downing -offer

I would suspect he caught someone's eye when Oregon was recruiting his teammate DT Cole Brevard (who ultimately signed with Penn St).

With Oregon recruiting assistant Matt Leitch supposedly now on UNLV's staff, expect more "under the radar guys" like this... not that Downing is all that UTR, it's just that most of his offers are in the midwest. Getting these guys out west on a visit is promising.

Kid comes from a very good High school program. It would be nice to have a few Midwest players and open up a small pipeline. Similar to the players we had from Houston

It would be tough to get such a "pipeline" going. In recent years it looked like Oregon had showed up at schools in that region to offer 4 and 5 star players but didn't have much success. The Big-10 is strong on those players and all the MAC teams are strong on the 3-star guys. Oregon was in a better position to recruit and evaluate nationally, with 43 guys on the coaching staff, a big budget, and probably subscriptions to those recruiting service companies.

Downing committed to UNLV today from what I can tell.
I didn't see this thread. I posted in the Offers thread that it is said he will be enrolling early. I'm assuming Spring semester which starts in 3 days. That is a fast turnaround from visit to classes.

Glad to see he is going to be Rebel.

Just a side note, one of my wife's employees sons played for Carmel HS with Downing, the son is going to Army to play FB and his brother is a starting OLB at Wisconsin, we watched him at Rose Bowl, he had a great game 7 tackles .5 sacks, and are going to the 1st Wisconsin game next season in Madison to see him play.
