Love the system, loathe the play calling. His butthole gets ultra tight at times and then at other times, at bad times, it’s Little Giants Annexation of Puerto Rico crap.
Odom was screaming at someone at one point. I don’t know if it was Marion or WR coach, yelling about receivers need to do better on creating separation.
What? Why can’t you see us in the MWC champ game? Based on how we played today, why couldn’t we beat them in the champ game? We hold Jeanty to limited yardage, then why couldn’t we beat them?
We have to win out and maybe that will earn us a trip to Boise for the title game.
Settling for 3 on the opening drive after terrible play calling had me on edge from the jump.
We get the bottom half of the MWC now... yeah, they've all played in conference better than expected, against each other- but we spanked Fresno, had USU locked up by half time. We're a TD away from beating Boise. If the goal continues to be winning a championship and we bring that intensity vs the lower end of the conference competition we'll be facing Boise in Boise in December...
The rest of the conference is mediocre
We were running it down their throat and he derailed drives getting WAY too cute. Just cut the lame shit and pound the rock until the prove they can stop it.

We held Jeanty to his worst game. And still lost.
The fact that we're already bowl eligible and didn't get our arses handed to us by Jeanty, is pretty damn impressive. I wanted a Tarkanianesque season. I know we all wanted that. But, Holy Crappers! This has been amazing!
Here's how I see it it playing out. Odom gets his paycheck needed to keep him, gets his revenge on BSU next season, after beating the sh*t out of whoever we play in our bowl game this season.

Or, he takes off for a better paying job, we rehire Hauck or Sanchez, or give it to Marion and we get back to sub 500s and patiently await fruitless slow growth.
Good chance CSU loses to Fresno and UNM. Sorry, but the rest of the MWC is awful. They might all look decent against each other and inflate their current records because of it, but they're all mediocre. I've been watching a ton of them and we have our issues but they're all even worse than we are.
I don't think Odom jumps ship just yet, IMO. If he does, our DC should be next in line for the position.
I'm upset about the loss as anyone here. Shiz, it's 2:47am in Florida and I'm still commenting. However, this is beyond impressive.
We were a pick and a couple of Personal Fouls away from a win. Great environment. Fans are even getting loud for third downs. And to think this board had threads discussing quitting football just three years ago.

Scherer has done a great job but he’s not ready for the Head job. 30 years old with very little coaching experience. He was a Grad Assistant/Defensive Analyst just a couple years ago. Way too risky of a hire.
I had no idea how young he was. I just know our defense is why we are where we are at.

It was a tight game. I pre-gamed and then I during-gamed. Now I'm post-gaming. I can't handle these truths!
Remember guys we were playing on a short week, late Saturday night game on the road versus them having a bye week. My fear was we would wear down. They had plenty of time to prepare for us. The pads were popping the boys represented let's see if we can get a rematch. Season isn't over by any means.
I’m okay with the defensive coordinator because Odom is a defensive guy and the teams we have left are not Boise State, make adjustments and for crying out loud get rid of the 7 yard cushions!
Marion is wearing thin, the play calling is boring and predictable!

Scherer was offered jobs (Odom wouldn’t say specifics) last offseason. He turned them down to stay with UNLV. I wouldn’t think they were HC jobs, maybe MAC level HC jobs or DC somewhere else with better pay.
I’m not sure he does that again where he turns down a big paying job. I also think Marion is highly likely to leave as well given how many points unlv has put up this season.
But if CBO stays I'm confident he can replace them in an instant with equally quality coaches.
I'm not worried about either leaving. We'll be fine if they do. I'm kind of over a defense that can't get any pressure in a QB and sits in soft zones coverage 80% of the game
He's a NFL TE and will be playing on Sundays. We throw to him 1x/game. It's absurd.
We have gotten burned by TEs in every big game this year and Marion looks at him and goes, nah I'm good...
Our defense surprised me and although they couldn't get off the field at the end of the game they did play well enough to win. Killed by three things:
- Our offensive line was putrid. This isn't the first time we have had issues with pass protection this was just the worst of them.
- Hajj's free gift, he played really well the second half but after that opening drive and being up 4 vs down 3 is a big difference especially at the end where Boise would have been forced to score instead of run clock. Changes the whole game.
- Penalties, not a coincidence that in both losses we forced them to 4th down and a punt only to extend the drive with penalties and allow them to score. Two personal foul penalties inexcusable. That hold at the end was a killer especially since the damn ball wasn't even catchable.
I will add that it would have been nice to have a full set of timeouts at the end of the game. In a nip and tuck game unless absolutely necessary you have to save those timeouts.
This team is legitimately good on both sides of the ball, just not good enough to win even when they kill themselves with mistakes. This team should be undefeated but lost because of mistakes. So they are good, but not quite good enough. Loved to see 42K show up that is frigging awesome just wish they had shown up to see a win and keep the momentum going.

Zero points in the 2nd and 4th qtr… really can’t expect to win not scoring in those two qtrs. Proud of the defense, they played their asses off and really kept Jeanty in check esp with some of the positions they were put in by a sputtering offense. They didn’t get their takeaway though. Again inside the 10 yard line Marion gets so conservative, I really don’t understand. Again left too many points off the board. Think Boise schemed well for us. They blitzed all night and we didn’t have much of an answer. Still proud of this team, yes it sucks to be eliminated from the playoff, but winning brings expectations and I’ll always welcome those.
The ridiculous amount of meaningless draw plays worries me. We have playmakers all over the field. Use them.
I really thought, given his height and hands, we’d see Ballungay lining up outside in some close in sets.
