Line ‘em up: Predictions and Game Thread Boise

I wish we’d just tighten up and go for it. Though we had some really good PBUs.

We are getting zero pressure on Madsen. They’re getting it on Hajj.
Since you're not getting pressure on the qb you HAVE to man up the coverage. Give your defense line time to get to him. This zone coverage by committee is a stupid idea that is losing you the game.

Credit to Boise, they stayed steady the entire game, went with heavy pressure, UNLV couldn’t adapt to it. Offense looked shaky most of the game. Didn’t get Ricky involved enough.

But UNLV killed themselves in this one. Badly. Way too many mistakes. Unforced mistakes.
Oh you mean like that dumb ass personal foul on the OL? Use some damn sense.

They battled was a heck of a game UNLV closed the gap on Boise . But there is deficiencies on this team on both sides. #1 is discipline have to stop making clear cut stupid decisions. 2 this defense needs to get dawgs up front and put pressure on the others teams QB or they really won’t get much better. That’s the difference tonight discipline and Boise was all over hajj.

Sucks. We had chances. Didn’t need to play perfect but can’t make as many critical mistakes as we did. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
Keep in mind, and it’s no consolation but Boise had two weeks to prepare for unlv.

It was a tough challenge for Odom but we didn’t meet the occasion again. We seem to be 50/50 in big time games under Odom, certainly better than 0/100 as it was in previous regimes. Still it stings to lose to Boise back to back.

We’ll probably face Boise again in the championship at Boise in November/December.

Unless Colorado State goes undefeated as well.
Don’t see it happening. And if we do, they’ll beat us again there. Prepare for a third rate bowl again. This time we will have a better shot in it.

Which, given what we’ve been, is still incredible. But it still stings being 6 points from undefeated and just needing one or two plays to make up the difference.

Boise is better than us. Given the way they reacted when UNLV battled hard, never losing focus, just staying with the game plan … that’s culture, takes time to establish. We’ve established culture, but in two years, not going to be as heavily ingrained. Even though BSU Isn’t what they once were, they’re still a program. UNLV, especially since we are one of the worst 10 teams in the country historically, still establishing it.
