latest gossip is Odom going to Purdue. They paid their last coach 4 million.
Not a chance in hell. I think that would be one of the last places he would go. They are a bottom feeder with little chance or finance to move up within The Big!

IT suppose to be announced tomorrow. We shall see. Hopefully it a power move to get his NEW contract. Portal opens Monday. HC should be in place to start signing players.

UCF folks were posting similar stuff.

My guess Purdue goes with a more 'midwest' guy possibly Toledo coach. Western Kentucky coaches name was thrown around a bit..

If I had a dollar for every dude that posted BREAKING NEWS! on Twitter, along with an unsubstantiated claims..I'd have.

A lot of dollars.

Anything is possible though.

I doubt he would go there. But Indiana was also a middling team in the BIG10 and Cignetti got them into the playoffs year one. Purdue has money as an institution.

I do not trust you and think you must be a communist spy. The proper American colloquialism is Trust me bro...Not bro trust me.
Bro, I’m American. Me no spy, no kidding around. I totally love watching the Super Bowl and eating hot dogs. Go, uh, Yankees! Great soccer team!

is Youmans essentially saying Odom has interviewed and been in contact with Purdue? Was he in talks with them during championship week?

Not good, we criticize Marion for that last year and here it is again. Coaches being distracted by job openings.

My guess and purely a guess would be that Purdue's people (along with other schools) had people contact Odom's people to gage interest.

I'd be surprised if Odom interviewed for the job the week of the Conference title game and a potential playoff spot in play. Could he have? Sure it's possible but man...Id be shocked if he did. I mean if UNLV had won there's absolutely no way he he'd interview heading into a CFP game right?

Plus signing the contract (According to Twitter insiders) the day of the Title game? Sounds off no?
.
Same guy claiming it's Odom, also posted the two teams in this game are auditioning for the Purdue job. (It was a picture of Tulane and Army)

I looked on Purdue message boards and they seem to think it is likely Odom but their sources are the same twitter accounts being discussed here.

Plus you'd think if this was a done deal his brothers tweet today would have been worded much differently.

Why can't we just have nice things without the drama.

Only if you believe the BS people are putting out.

"Harper and Whitfield kept us in this crap conference."

I don't believe this. Until proven otherwise I believe SDSU blackballed us as undeserving.
Except that they did eventually officially invite us and offered 6 mil in exit fees. We turned them down officially. We weren't part of their first choices, but the idea that Harper kept us in this conference is technically correct

So this week I was curious why Marion rumors were somewhat slim or shutdown early. Especially if it is true that he declined Tulsa, his Alma mater. I mean he interviewed at UTEP last year and that was a similar job at the time and Not his alma mater.
Either he is trying to keep things quieter this year or he thinks he may be the HC here next year? Just a thought.

If Odom gets the Purdue job they will have a lot more money take the staff with him. The only thing is Harper can offer Scherer or Marion the job to keep the culture Barry built. One of them has to stay imo. I would go with the defensive guy. Our most recruits were on the defense side. A tough call for us no matter how we look at it.

Or...
Now hear me put because this is insane, we hire a coach with HC experience that can take the culture built and continue to build it..
Remember the last guy we go that was a sure fire assistant hired quickly from within to continue building a culture from the previous coach and keep recruits... exactly how well did that work out

We haven't had a coach with Barry's type of culture. The last head coach, Hauck, had a ****ed culture. Arroyo didn't like people so he couldn't get along with the AD and Boosters. I don't even want to talk about the high school coaching thing.

Let’s hope Harper is on the phone with every UNLV donor this morning and Odom is using this as possible leverage for raise from UNLV. I just see the outcome at Purdue ending much like it did at Mizzou for Odom if he does leave.
If Purdue wants coach we can't compete unless there is a billionaire out there.

There are 10 schools that are long term better than Purdue in the Big 10.
Oregon
UW
Indiana
OSU
Michigan
Iowa
Wisconsin
Penn St
USC
Illinois
What a terrible choice, I would've gone to UCF
No. The worse they are the easier the turn around. He won't need to win the Big 10. All he'll need is to show some success.
