QB situation next year?

Gael Ochoa (3 star) will be a RS Freshman next year, the only other QB on the roster is Lucas Lenhoff who is a walk on 2 star and will be a RS Sophomore and was recruited by Florida Atlantic and Mount Union and had some nice stats his senior year but is small with limited athleticism. We have Garyt Odom (3 star) coming in next year as a freshman who is more a dual threat type of QB but is also on the small side.

I would assume that we're looking to bring in an upper class QB who will get to compete with and edge for the starter.

UNLV Top 25 Ranking?

Why does UNLV have enemies? It certainly can't be sports related as we haven't had any kind of success in sports for 30+ years
Everyone sees UNLV as a sleeping giant. If you were one of the traitor 5, would you want to prop up UNLV and give them more money? If UNLV had committed to football in the 90s like Boise's admin did we would be light years ahead of where we are now. Now that it's obvious UNLV is finally doing something right they don't want to add financial help to us.

UNLV Top 25 Ranking?

Boise got the LA bowl last year, though we arguably got the better bowl. Not sure if we would have the liberty of declining for anything other than the playoffs. Not sure how this works these days.
There are conference affiliations for bowls, but I think the LA bowl is tied to the MWC champion as the top of the MWC tier bowls, but that doesnt necessarily mean that another Bowl cant invite like we got last season without that champion guarantee.. the CFP does really mess with those affiliations.

UNLV Top 25 Ranking?

Depending how the bowls are set up, UNLV may not have any choice what bowl they go to with the exception of the college playoffs.
Sure, just like last season we didnt have any choice, but we managed to get an invite to a bowl not tied to the MWC. Thats why I said our basement seems to be the LA bowl as a realistic possibility, but that being 10-2 and probably top 15 in both polls would open the door to a better bowl opportunity if there is an opening. The old Pac 12 ties are left in the open like the Holiday Bowl and the Alamo Bowl.
Can you see the fun in playing in the Alamo Bowl vs a Big 12 school- like Kansas State or Iowa St.?

OT: Hypocrisy in politics

Did the deep state just launch US made missles into Russia?

What would we do if Russia supplied Cuba with missiles and they launch them at Atlanta and Miami?

UNLV Top 25 Ranking?

This is the terribly unfortunate yet realistic possibility that UNLV faces.. Finish the season 11-2, ranked in top 15 with a premium bowl win... Best season ever, yet miss conference title game and CFP spot because CSU played garbage conference schedule.

I do image that we could draw a better bowl than the LA bowl. i know its the top tier MWC tied bowl game, but a top 15 UNLV team seems like a good add to a better bowl

QB situation next year?

I'd guess a big part of it will depend on the coaching situation.

Does Odom leave? I hope not, but if he does, it's an entirely new staff, so most likely the new staff would bring in a couple of transfers.

If Odom stays, but Marion leaves, that would be interesting to see what Ochoa does. If the new OC runs a totally different offense, Ochoa may look for a different home, but that's just a guess. I know HMW is out of eligibility, but I'm not sure on Friel. He's been at UNLV 4 years, but in 2023 he had very limited playing time, so could probably get an extra year of eligibility if he wanted to.
I mean, theres not really much difference between the Go-go and the RPO spreads that most OCs are running these days. So unless we get an OC that runs a pro-style set, I imagine the offense will remain very similar.
As for QB, I believe we probably go out on the transfer market and get either a 5th year guy again, or a Junior with a few seasons left. Cant see us trying to run a redshirt freshman when we would enter season potentially Top 25. Plenty of solid P4 guys who are either going to over recruited or replaced with G5 upgrades. How about Miller Moss?

QB situation next year?

Ochoa plus portal and grad transfers to battle it out.

They found a guy from FCS Campbell that has moved the offense well. I'm pretty sure they'll be able to find another QB

As for Marion leaving.

I stand by..

He's an incredible play designer.

He's an above average play caller.

He was the archtect of the Go-Go offense. But like any other offense it will get copied, tweaked etc.

Under Odom we had Petrino only to lose him and land Marion. Marion leaves Odom has enough ties and connections to find another OC.

UNLV Top 25 Ranking?

We weren't ranked last week in either poll. I imagine we come in somewhere similar in todays poll, but agree that a loss for Army probably eliminates them, with their super soft schedule.
We should also root for Memphis to beat Tulane. Memphis isnt able to get into AAC championship game so a win by them doesnt hurt us if we win out. Just need that Fresno team to come through for us
This prediction does account for this past weekend's games and the current ranking in the polls though.

UNLV Top 25 Ranking?

CFP rankings prediction, real ones come out sometime today.

interesting they DON'T have Boise jumping BYU. Because BYU has a ranked win, and as of now Boise does not. But somehow have Army at 20.

We aren't on the list at all.

Remember these are the only rankings that matter. Army has a 5 spot lead on us ( at least). A loss to ND will drop them a good amount, perhaps all the way out, winning out for sure would get us on.

This is why we also need to root for Houston, Kansas, and Syracuse. The more quality teams they beat, the better our resume looks.
