Who said UNLV TV numbers were low?

Is that what Utah Tech was vs what they announced 25K or whatever? We'll see this week I can see not seeing Utah Tech but this game should be at the actual announced number.
Yes it was announced at 24.5k, but they gave out 7200 free student tickets, and from the reports it seemed like a lot of the paid people didn't show.

Does the offense wake up this week?

It did take Maiava to open up the passing game last year. Similar situation, though I think Sluka had more time with the 1s than Maiava did last preseason.
I do think there is some room for improvement, but I doubt it changes drastically after this bye week.
If there is improvement it should be after the bye week for sure otherwise unlikely.

Yeah, I am not counting Sluka runs on broken play as chunk run plays, though technically they are. We have one break out traditional run play against FBS schools this year, and we didn't do great there against Dixie either.
Yeah exactly I don't count broken plays either if it isn't by design then it doesn't mean your offense is better it means you got lucky or the defense screwed up. Or in Sluka's case he made a nice play.

Hyperbolic. They have lost the shock leverage. They will still get more TV money than MWC and probably American. They (and now mwc) still have a warche$t. They still currently have no dead weight.
Wrong. They're not a conference without 8. There are teams they can add other than UNLV, but would they want to? That kills their already iffy TV deal based on the 6 they have. They need Vegas...and they're going to have to tell SDSU to put its tail between its legs and invite UNLV.

If we don't see an improvement this week then we probably are what we are. At this point if you haven't improved your offense over four games it probably ain't coming. I know Sluka got a late start, understanding a new offense etc but it isn't like we are running the run and shoot or something complicated.

Gonzaga with a full share is crazy talk. They do get 4 mil per year, which is high considering the lack of football. I can see them wanting a decent bump for coming over. They have been flirting with the Big 12 over the years so they have a little bit of leverage.
If SMU joins too, would they get the same? yeesh, I don't know.
I like the idea of more Basketball than Football members. You need more members for basketball since it is hard to fill up the OOC with fewer conference games.
Not to mention the entertainment value of watching UNLV get boat raced on its home floor by about 30-40 points every other year.

They are REALLY aggressive on defense. Chunk plays, most likely won't be on the ground. I'm not talking about Sluka doing his magic on pass plays when no one is open. Designed runs will be necessary to free us up in the pass game or RPO/options plays, but Fresno is pretty good up front.

I take it back Imagine having such horrible negotiating skills that you let a school without a football team into your conference with a full share.

****I will say this. Gonzaga is an ESPN darling. The fact Gonzaga was thrust into a full share position makes me think ESPN is TV deal talks with the Pac2

Fresno state's defense has good numbers. Not sure how good they really are.
Just wondering if the rush attack gets some more chunk plays and if the passing game gets more efficient and effective.
Sluka is a warrior, but the offense has been a but underwhelming. I think it is key to our ceiling. If it gets closer to last year, combined with our improved defense then Mw championship and beyond really becomes a possibility. If it doesn't improve I think we are looking at a really good, but not a great year.

@Loyal Coug1 I take it back about rushing the field after beating SJSU. Imagine being turned down by UTSA.

We are the backup plan?

LOL.. they would need to offer a really really good deal at this point for UNLV to not stay put and wait for those 6 to come crawling back... They tried to take out the king and it didnt work.
What it does tell you is they had no plans t pay the exit fees for the AAC teams and the anticipated revenue for TV is either equal or close enough that it didnt make sense to move. So why not play hard ball and keep getting the cash. They now need the MWC 8 more than we need them
I tend to agree. Still see possible value in going, but it's much less than originally expected. The fat stacks that pac 2 pay the mwc per scheduling agreement combined with the exit fee, hard to say no to keeping that if MWC is also willing to give UNLV unequal distribution.

Who said UNLV TV numbers were low?

Yeah except SDSU has been at least respectable for the last few decades vs us as one of the worst D1 football programs in NCAA history over the last few decades. You won't change that with one good season. Another good year this year and then yeah next year I would expect another leap. Attendance was up 12% that is a very respectable increase. Go up another 12% this year and that puts us at 3rd in the conference. Season ticket sales were up more than 1K alone so that by itself moves us to 4th. WSU was 28K so we aren't that far off from them.
The fact we started the year with less than 18k actually paid attendance following last year sucks. Especially after a big road win with a lot of buzz nationally.

6th in the league when you tied for first isn't great. Even terrible ass SDSU drew more fans last year.

Possibly. But even if so, it certainly lowers any amount of leverage that the new PAC has with regards to inviting new schools. If all of the other schools really wanted to screw over these 6, they could. I don't think that's how it will shake out, but it's not likely that UNLV or any other schools will take a smaller slice of the pie, if that's what the PAC comes in offering.
Hi, Montana State? What are you guys up to?
