Talk with AF and both of us talk with the AAC to find out if they would be interested in having us. The MWC just died. The Pac12 don't want us. Gloria did her best but she was out maneuvered.

You have to know that the MWC will never get the media revenue it has right now. And, that says a lot. We have to give our one year notice to leave this graveyard of a conference while we still have Odom and a decent looking football program.

Save our school. Save our student athletes. Save our fans. Save our Community.

There’s 3 options and none of them involve staying in the MWC. This conference is dead.

The three options:

1- Join PAC, pay the penalties and possibly litigation from Reno.

2- Join Big12, pay the exit fee, negotiate a reduced payout agreement with b12 with the option of full payouts in the future after meeting certain requirements and conditions.

3- Join AAC, pay exit fee. Will require full payout as other members, maybe more to cover travel. Our media revenue will more than double though travel costs will go up. UNLV will probably be back on BIG MONDAY on ESPN since ESPN is the AAC distributor.

The PAC don't want us. The PAC will take two or four AAC schools to broaden their media exposure. I don't think we are an option. The Big12 is a pipe dream that i watched OSU and WSU fans to where they actually thought they had a chance. Didn't happen for them and won't happen for us. I'm all for the #3 option. Even if the AAC is raided by the PAC and we join a weaker AAC at least we get the exposure from the different time zones and as you say ESPN. This would be a good move for us and good for the LV Community as it opens an opportunity to bring in other schools fans and their money to Vegas. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority should agree with that.

Can't we take AF and another school and blow up the conference so we don't pay exit fees?

I don't think it works that way. Look at the PAC2. They were given 2 years to rebuild before the conference would have folded. With 8 schools remaining that would vote for dissolution I don't think one of them right now would vote to close the conference. They are on life support just like us but worse.

Yeah, that's tough. I think the biggest deal would be based on what the revised conference is able to get in terms of a media deal. If it's a huge downgrade, then what's the point of continuing down the same path?

I have serious doubts whether CBS or Fox would be interested in continuing their relationship with us based on what is leftover.

Me too, which is why I put that out as a big factor. Would these schools continue to play in the conference if they're going to be losing a bunch of money each year? Or would you take the pot of money that was coming in due to these 4 defections, and then vote to disband the conference and split up the money, then find the best option after that for each individual school

Scheduling would be a nightmare.
Recruiting would dry up as well.

I was sure Odom would stay at least for a couple more years.

Now, if a job comes along for a school in a more stable conference he may bolt.

Not dissolving but weakens the conference to the point that they would have to settle for whatever we offered. The schools that left could sue for a settlement as the PAC2 had to do to settle. People forget they were owed huge sums of money and ended up settling for 65 million and other assets in the 100 million range.

In 2026 or 2025, I doubt the conference will have any real value.

Odom and Lindy are the best things we have going on in the athletic department. Whatever it takes we have to keep them. Even if it means taking some of the money we are getting from the departing schools exit fees. We lose them and what do we have left. I don't care if we have to double their salary and shut down the men's basketball program.

They'd be interested.

At a greatly reduced package.

Basically peanuts like CUSA..

I hate hyperbole but this conference would be dead in the water.
I think if there are more defections, a merger with CUSA is likely. I don’t see the point in backfilling with low tier or FCS like programs.

(In the above scenario, unlv is long gone in the MWC).

MY WISH LIST

(Not saying it would happen)

1- BIG12
2-Refurbished PAC12
3-AAC

I'm not interested in a CUSA merger or a refurbished MWC.

I haven't missed a UNLV game in 25 years and I'm serious when I say this, If none of those three happen I'm not sure I would care anymore.

Heard that Boise undercut her. And heard Boise is getting some financial incentives in getting the other 3 to join.

Loyal Coug is right. There is a traitor among our conference.
A lot of that is bullshit. The PAC12 didn't want us and that is all we need to know. We need to get after our President and AD to make that push with AF and get us to the AAC. The MWC is dead and we need to move on. Crying over the Pac12 is like chasing after that girl who just dumped you. That is creepy.

Just go independent. Who gives a crap.

Basketball is dead in the water. Cut losses and move into the Cox Auxillery.

We’ll be just fine. Just schedule heavy hitters in football.

Well 4 actually. So far. Look guys, there is no good reason why UNLV didn't join your 4 schools. But there are reasons, and my $5 sez they are all on your end of the deal. It's not the poaching penalty.

So figure out who the F is screwing it up on your end (first stop Regents) And let's get it done. While I still think our commissioner is a dodo, she pulled something off. Go ask CSU, etc. WTF.

Oh ad great win over Kansas. I watched a lot of it, and all of the end. That TD before halftime, despite the WTF clock management, was epic.

Congratulations on imploding the MWC and salvaging your name conference badge!!

Well i imagine i can actually almost guarantee it. If we dont do something QUICKLY about conference realignment we will lose Odom and Marion. Maybe regardless. Odom will be heavily sought after this season if we can get to 9-10 wins. That said saying the obvious trying to recruit in whats left of the MWC and being left with mostly scraps and then the money greatly being reduced in the next contract. Expires in 2 years. 5 mill a year. Which aint much ,but still will be devastating. I think the WAC gets like 750,000 a year.

Not the Regents. He responded to a post from somebody on Twitter.

Something else is going on.

I posted the link.

We were skipped plain and simple. Maybe it's money holding it up now and we leave after that is sorted out.

But..

I'm getting a weird feeling It's not PAC or BIG12 for us but possibly AAC with Air Force to get them to 16.

Going from the MWC to the AAC would be a bit of a lateral move. The only upside would be an increase in TV revenue.

If conferences like the PAC12 or Big-12 don't want us, that says a lot about how much we have really fallen. You can only paper over the cracks so much.

Also, why should UNR and UNLV be a package deal? It wasn't an issue when we moved to the MWC. It shouldn't be an issue now.

One regent I emailed said they just found out about it yesterday and never voted on it she invited me to call her so I will do that and see what she says.

They know, but there isn’t a vote because they don’t vote on a move until it is recommended by the president and the chancellor: they’re playing semantics at this point.

UNLV hasn't fallen. Right now UNLV is the darlin of the MWC in football, and if they can keep on winning will put us in a position to leave the MWC and PAC2 in our dust. We still don't know why UNLV wasn't offered, or if UNLV was offered and turned them down what the reason was for that. As for the Board of Regents, if they actually had any meeting, then there would be a public record of that meeting.

We don't know the reasons and we may never know. But, what is done is done. I for one wish OSU and WSU and the new Pac12 the best in your future. Right now the MWC looks like road kill and UNLV needs to get out. I'm pushing for UNLV and AF to move to the AAC. For one their media rights payments are going to be a lot better than what we are going to get in our next contract. I know the AAC will lose teams to the PAC12 but, it's still going to be a better option for us and especially AF.

It's time for us to look forward. Hopefully, we can get an invite to the AAC otherwise we are dead.

OK can somebody explain what is going on?

Dude on confidential board posted Odom and Harper were both blindsided by the realignment news. Had no idea.

Meaning UNLV was left out of these backdoor negotiations between PAC and MWC teams.

Regents are saying they just learned of this as well.

The one regent (Brooks) everybody is hammering replied on Twitter saying 'I'd prefer they stayed together but wouldn't block a move by UNLV'

Maybe PAC just didn't want UNLV. And it's not anything to do with the Regents.

Who's screwing it up? The foxes we let into the hen house.

No offense but that's the reality of it.

My thoughts as well. They didn't want us. Nothing to do about it. We move on and try the best fit for us wherever we might be wanted. The MWC is dead. There is no fix for it.

IMO, they are all lying.
