Unlv to LA Bowl.

Yeah that’s bush league if the coordinators aren’t coaching, basically it’s an extra week to stay in town. I could possibly understand if they were playing at the end of the month. Bailing on the players this week is lame as hell

Cal might be down to their 3rd string QB tomorrow night.

“In Mendoza’s absence, backups Chandler Rogers, CJ Harris and frosh EJ Caminong will compete for the start.

Rogers was injured late in the Bears’ loss at SMU and has been somewhat limited in practice, with Harris and Caminong taking the majority of the reps but Rogers has been working his way back onto the field and could potentially get the start if he continues to improve.

“Right now, CJ and EJ are taking the majority of the reps. Chandler's day-to-day, so we'll see how he's doing tomorrow. He did a little more today and threw the ball. So it would be great to get him back in the mix as well. But CJ and EJ are taking the majority of the reps, and they're doing a really good job."

Just goes to show that Bowl games really are losing steam and interest. Players opt out, coaches opt out, and it doesn’t mean nearly as much as it did. Sucks

Figures. We finally improve enough to where a 500 season/bowl game is the new expectation yet that final prize is mangled ….

Just keep moving forward and winning. I am just curious who is going to be coaching at the game. Is the entire staff there with the exception of Odom, or are some of the other coaches like Marion not going to be there? If the entire staff shows up, even with Cal being favored, I think UNLV wins by 3-4 touchdowns.

Not sure but I bet it will be all coaches present besides Odom and Marion.

Not sure how accurate it is, but this article from about an hour ago says UNLV will have all 3 coordinators including Marion for the Bowl game.

I get why Odom left. But I don't know why Marion is upset. I understand being mad at UNLV because he got snubbed for the HC job, but its classless to leave your offense now. Marion doesn't have another job lined up yet. He might as well work the extra half week. If I were Marion, I wouldn't burn the bridge now. You never know when the connection to Mullen/ UNLV will come around again in the future.

I can see being upset you didn't get the job if you are Marion. BUT, not when you see that Mullen got it.

If Marion was as hot of a commodity as he thinks he is, somebody decent would have snatched him up. What happened with his Alma Mater? The smaller schools? Why has there been nothing?

He will get snatched up as an OC, I don’t have any doubts about that. And he was very good in his time here for UNLV. I really dislike one foot out the door and both eyes wide open upon his arrival.

He is a hot commodity, just not a hot HC commodity yet. With that said, I am surprised no FCS team took as a final candidate.

I don’t know, Marion is just a lightning rod here and on X. His predecessor didn’t last a week at unlv under Odom and took another job. Looking for a HC job or a prestigious p4 job as an OC shouldn’t be an issue here.

I feel like people just go off of surface level stuff like Marion tearing Maiava a new one or chewing out Hajj. Not everyone’s cup of tea, I get it. That being said, he’s a great coordinator.

Runs deeper than player interactions

Or a lack there of.
You must have received the news before anyone else prior to Del’s presser.

Not only that issue but Marion isn’t going to Purdue. Sounds like the job opportunities have shrunk massively for him and it’s Sac State or some WR job at a P4 or something.

Still…it would have looked better to stick with your players until the end. Doesn’t seem right to me unless he’s imminent as HC of Sac State.

Idk. If you got passed over for a big promotion, new guy doesnt appear to want yoy, and your former boss left to a better paying job and didn't want to bring you along you'd probably want to start looking elsewhere too... it happens in coaching especially with coordinators.

Odum may have promised Marion what Marion promised sLuka.

Marion seems like he has a strong personality that wears thin on people. Players seem to like him, but quite interesting that he has a tough time finding a HC gig. Will be interesting to see what OC job he gets (if any) should Sac St not work out.

I get it, but at the end of the day when we leave this world. The only thing we take with us is our reputation and integrity. I may not drive the most expensive car or live in a mansion, but what I do have is integrity and I’ll be known as a man of his word. They can never take that from me.

I'm sitting in my office like "I should be in L.A. right now." I'm being introduced into a new roll/promotion today. I'm not sure it's a good look to wave my hand tell my new team what we're going to do to succeed as a team in 2025 and then bounce at noon. I hate I'm working today. This team deserves UNLV fans in SoFi.
