Positives - shared the ball in the 1st half, Poyser is really good, Dembele is going to be a game-changer when healthy, 6 assists for Mooring, Coupet showing he can be a contributor, free-throw shooting is a plus, we can go 10 deep with capable bodies, Menzies seems to actually know how to manage a 10-deep rotation, Mooring has no conscience.

Negatives - defense especially denying penetration still a work in progress, Dwayne shooting 3's?, turnovers, Mooring has no conscience.

Baxter was a no show. I hope that does not signify anything other than he is a freshman.

Clearly, this is a work in progress. It was good to win a game.

Mooring scares me when he handles the ball. Maybe, as with the others, the game will slow down a bit and they can handle with some confidence. Poyser looks like a good point guard to me. He distributes well. You can't get assists when the guys you pass to are taking bad shots or missing open ones.

Disappointing/Encouraging sign...Blowing a 15-point lead in a matter of moments in the second half brought back all-too-familiar knot in my stomach. However our boys pulled it together to produce a satisfying 12-point victory.

During the Rice years, I can't recall a game that, once the lead was squandered, they managed to stem the tide. We all knew that the game was lost at that point.

In the interest of full disclosure, I held out, longer than most, the hope that DR was going to figure it out. I was wrong. I believe that MM is a superior game coach. Once he has a fair chance at recruiting, better times are coming for the Rebels...Patience...

completely disagree with Poyser. i actually think he may be partially blind.....in both eyes. absolutely NO court vision. he's a reactionary player and more often than not, that's too late.
i do think he's a gifted scorer though.
