One thing that's always bothered me, to a degree, is how the T&M income is used. Even if you didnt allocate more of it to just basketball, but to the athletic department, that would be a game changer for our athletic dept.
The reality is that without UNLV badketball, it wouldn't have been built. It's also true that UNLV basketball couldn't be the only source of income for it to be built. However, when your arena, built for your hoops team, is only behind Madison Square Garden in annual revenue (arena revenues in the US), theres a point where the school needs to give a larger portion of that back to the department responsible for getting it built instead of acting like the university general fund is the place deserving of that income.
If UNLV's AD kept 50% of the net income, that would be like us playing in the PAC 10...so many things could be fixed with that type of money...and could've been fixed in the past so some of the current issues didn't exist.
