A few years ago he was popping up as a potential candidate for the HC job here.
He's young too! I'd take him vs all of the other names that have popped up. I like the ties to Rocky Long and the west coast. He has won a bowl game, and he also has win vs Pittman/Odom too.
Doing some sleuthing and Fred Walker of the LV Raiders has worked under Mullen during the Dak era at Miss State. While he’s never been an OC, he did call plays under Mullen at Miss State.
It would be an easy hire, imo. Already in town and worked with Mullen for years.

This is a total win-win. He could be pumping up a friend's salary. But, If it's genuine and we land this beast, FFS!
I read that Appalachian State was unable to match our salary offer. Not sure of the $$ just that it is lucrative. Not that they are a powerhouse but it is still unusual to actually read the words "they were unable to match UNLV's offer" in any sentence much less for an assistant coach. Harper is rising on my Christmas list.
I hope the Prez brings Harper a FAT extension and raise on Christmas Eve, rakes his yard, washes his car, reads him a Night Before Christmas, and tucks him in with a goodnight kiss on the forehead.

From my non -personal knowledge, I think it could happen. I mentioned this possibility right after Mullen was hired , given that he is close to Urban. Urban and his family would essentially get paid Vegas vacations.

Somehow, in my mind, I see Arrigo reading this and saying **** you.
You know when we played on Fox for the championship game in Boise, Urban sounded like a guy that was keeping tabs on UNLV.
I thought at the time he was just deferring to the old MWC/Wac days when he was at Colorado State and Utah.
I wonder if this is for OC or lateral move? Never been an OC before so would hope for someone with more experience. But trust Mullen to build his own staff and getting his guy.
I thought the same thing when I heard Urban praise UNLV's program.
I believe Mullen doesn't hire an OC. He calls the plays. He used 2 position coaches at Florida to handle duties outside play calling that an OC might have like game plan or recruiting
He is known as one the best, almost a savant offensive mind. I am going to trust the staff and watch how he does this. It is different.
