We're a running team (when the opposition allows us to be).
We're a half-court team (when the opposition dictates it).
This is my biggest frustration with our current staff. 4+ years and we are at our opponent's proverbial mercy each game. Coming into the season we were all being sold on pressing and a "mad man". What happened that it's not utilized each game? Are we not deep enough since GO left? Do our coaches not have faith enough in how it's played? That was supposed to be how we took control of games and overwhelmed our opponents. We see it on occasion but when things get tight so do we. In close games we get very vanilla in our approach and hope we don't lose.
If I was an opposing coach I would tell my 1-3 to get back as soon as the ball is shot. Let the 4 and 5 worry about getting offensive rebounds and then getting back up the court once we stopped the UNLV "fast break". Get in a zone and even lag off the arc so that we get baited into a three attempt (or in Ike's case play the three-point line and lag off at the "U" and the "V").
