Line ‘em up: Predictions and Game Thread Syracuse

Just watched the press conference with the Syracuse head coach:

I really like this dude. Like last week, I do think we have a huge leg up having Odom as our head coach. It was obvious how much more prepared we were than Fresno and Skipper. Fran has never been a head coach before. This is his first road game. I think he’ll be really good, but he’s growing through some growing pains.

Also, it seems that have little trust in their kicking game. Bull should be happy.

Kickers are a necessary evil.

Words no kicker has ever heard..

'I'm proud of you son'...

Their best receiver is either injured or missing for other reasons. #8. When the media asked about #8, the coach got a little angry that they keep asking about him. Doesn’t look like #8 is playing this week either.

Jim Boeheim had the same scheduling technique. Wouldnt leave the state of NY until January.

It’s also a 9:00 game for them.

He didn’t say when they’re coming out to Vegas

You sure you got the right number for the receiver? Maybe so since he transferred in from Georgia, but he only had 1 catch last year for GA and this season, he played in 2 games and has 8 catches for 97 yards.

Yeah. #8 Zeed Haynes. He redshirted last year after only playing in a couple games. He's supposed to be their best receiver according to Fran and the Syracuse media.

HS Committed/Decommitted - Rutgers

HS Committed/Decommitted - Penn State

Committed - Gerogia (played 3 games)

Transfer to Syracuse. What a ride

Week 6 and it's his first road game?!

In his presser, did he say whether they leave Wednesday or Thursday? First time Syracuse has played in Pacifix time zone in 10 years. Seems worth early arrival to me
SU is leaving Wednesday

McCord is leading the nation in yards with their pro style offense. With that said that’s partly because he can’t really scramble. He runs like Nick Sherry. Sure, he can get a few yards here and there. But if they have the rely on the QB sneak, Woodard will set NCAA records.

If we can shut down the passing lanes, get the pass rush going, and get them to be one dimensional we win. This will also be one the largest O line we face this year. They’ve got the pro style offense, and the line to get it going.

On the other side of the ball, they run a base 4-2-5 with 4 big, tall, and athletic guys up front. We should be able to create some mismatches with their secondary. The misdirection of the gogo should work in our favor.

I wouldn’t sleep on this team.

Jackson Meeks is also a WR from Georgia (played 3 seasons there). He’s been solid for Cuse so far this year.

Maybe some here are, but no one in a Rebel uniform is sleeping on this Syracuse team.

Now we need some UNLV alumni to show the boys from NY around town...preferably an all nighter.
We have an offer you can't refuse?
Marlon Brando Movie GIF

Got the Varsity Blue GIF? With the history teacher as the dancer?

There is a guy I follow for college football betting. UNLV minus the points is his pick of the week but the thing I found interesting in that pick was he said UNLV was one of the top 10 teams in the country vs the spread last season and if you include this season we are #1 vs the spread in the country. I guess we have been underestimated though this spread would tell me people are taking notice. Two years ago who had UNLV -6.5 vs anyone other than Bryant and the like. The same program that lost as a 45 point favorite vs Howard lol.

The reason I have a little bit of confidence this week is because I know this team is not buying into the hype. I think they understand the gravity of this season well. I could see a team folding after an emotional win and seeing a #23 next to UNLV. For some reason, I don't think they really care that much. They have a clear mission and goal with great on-field leadership. That's a dangerous combination. Doesn't mean we will win, but I know they trust the gameplan and we know they can execute.

Will be a fun one tomorrow night.

Saw a rumor on X that only 2500 student tickets had been pulled...

Thats disappointing.
That would be very disappointing. But I’ve had a few felons reach out to me about tickets who haven’t attended a game in years. The team is definitely drawing interest locally. Hopefully Wendell the lower bowl and not with 10k SU fans.

I am worried about this game. Our pass rush hasn’t been great and if we throw more than 4 at the QB I’m worried he’s gonna pick us apart. I could see us being down initially like we were at KU and coming back after the coaches make some adjustments (which they’ve been very good at).

Arrive (I know, I know) reported that they are bringing in bleachers for one of the end zones this week. You would think that student would get those tickets. I hope they releass 10k student tickets lol

I forgot exactly which Mountain West website that I saw, but they had us favored in every game except one for the remainder of the year. Even though we are not favored against Boise, we were not that far behind with a 46% chance of winning. WOW!

I'm curious what the spread will be on the Boise game I am guessing a pick em.

I've got this one at 34-24, UNLV over Syracuse.

Orange will be able to move the ball through the air and score more than anyone UNLV has played to date, but will also have a couple of turnovers (most likely interceptions due to predictably relying heavily on the passing game against a capable secondary). UNLV winning the turnover battle, plus presenting a balanced attack gets them enough scores to cover at home.
