Signing day

The same has happened with the past three coaches. They recruit better than their predecessors early on, but after the second year - with few wins - the recruiting drops off. Hard to recruit players who come from winning high schools when you have a record like UNLV. You sell them early on with a dream that they can be a part of a great resurgence. But when the coach keeps losing that doesn't ring true.

Fair amount of truth to this....

I am not saying the list of players isn't already out, I am saying that many of these players may want to wait until they have finished their season before making a decision. In my opinion the players that leave the schools early before the season ends through the transfer portal should pay back the years cost for their college education

T difference is with Arroyo, we could have won at least 3 more games if we had a healthy QB. The other coaches loses game by blowout. There aren't too many blow outs this year..

True, but how many recruits look beyond the Win/Loss record. I'm guessing they don't look at margin of a victory or a loss.

Even if Brumfield had stayed healthy, I can't say with any certainty that it would have resulted in more than one possibly two more wins.

All things considered, no senior year of HS football, limited Spring and Fall reps, porous OLINE play Friel acquitted himself pretty well..

We could have had 5 wins this year and we were a dumpster fire at time, especially on offense. I for one, was surprised we were close in so many games this year. I think next year he has to have 5 wins minimum and compete in 2-3 to get to 6. I also agree that recruiting while it has been exciting and better than expected, it’s obvious it has cooled off now and selling recruits on “program resurrection“ is going to be harder now after 2 years. Now we will see his mettle if he has any in recruiting!

There is a difference between Arroyo and the past few coaches. The facilities are arguably near the top of the conference. It definitely wins the "cool" award.
I do agree that losing has potential to hurt recruiting and has. I'm not sold that is 100% of the case this recruiting season yet. I withhold judgment until the final classes are solidified.
As for strategy this year, I get not hitting the HS ranks as hard. He did that with previous classes and we are still quite young. Getting more mature players to plug holes makes since and long and he has enough young developing players for the future.

That's a pretty lofty goal for next season. I think 3-5 is more realistic, not having looked at the schedule

3....No..Can't get behind that..

4...Yes but there has to be a win over Reno. Also no blowout conference losses.

5...About right especially with a win over Reno.

If Arroyo is the Coach I think he is or wants to become he's going into next year with a bowl game motto. Those that have played at least at a high level high school football program can understand. You're 3 years in each year there's measurable growth. Maybe not in wins but how you compete, in the weight room body transformation, in the film room and of course on the scoreboard.
I know a lot of guys make fun of Coach for his "coach speak" what ever that is but, I find him genuine, engaging, and knowledgeable. I'm not worried about the small numbers to begin first round of signings he did the same his first year here when he was a late hire due to bowl game obligations. He recruited late and well.
Next signing period I look for a nice crop of players from the portal that "fit" the system he's trying to install. The best thing to happen was to have San Jose State and Utah State win back to back to let the guys know a quick turnaround is possible.

All coaches say the same crap. 'Coach speak'.

If they are winning its great. If they are losing not so much..

3-5 wins effectively means UNLV will be no better next year than this year. UNLV plays an easier schedule next year, and you are calling for the possibility of as few as only 1 win more than a team that should never have lost to EWU in the first game, and with a few better calls should have won 5 or more games this past season. If the team wins only 3-4 games in his third season as coach, I think he will have lost his fan base by the end of next season, and should lose his job!

I will admit with the players transferring away from UNLV, and a fairly weak recruiting class so far for 2022, I am getting concerned regarding when and where he will get the players from to fill in the gaps? He needs to pick up some big time transfers similar to what they have done the last two years.

Lost the fan base? Are you saying that there is a fan base? Holy sh!t, I thought we lost the fan base decades ago.
