With today being signing day, feel free to add any new information in here. I'm looking forward to see what we get today!

Are the rules still 85 total scholarships per team and no more than 25 new scholarships per class?

Different recruits..same result.
At least we made progress throughout the course of the year this year. We got better as the season went on, which we can't always say. It would have been nice to get a couple more wins obviously, but if we had been able to keep our QB's healthy, we would have won more, IMO. Not sure what the QB position is going to look like for next season.

Norvell is poaching players from everybody. Aubrey Scott recommitted from UNLV>CSU. Reno lost two. SDSU lost one. Boise lost one commit as well to CSU

Usually a 2 win season it’s all gloom and doom. I don’t really feel that way.

I absolutely think we have to ramp up next season and double the win total though. If it ends up a 1 or 2 win season then, meh …

4 wins would do it for you. Wow.

2020 they were no closer than what, 17 points? This season they lost 6 games by one score and won 2. If it's not 6 or 7 wins next then that could be sayonara until the next build.

Didn't say rebuild because this hasn't been built since 1983 and 1984 which was the last time this team had back-to-back winning seasons. However the NCAA adjusted those to 0-13 and 0-11 so it's 78-79-80 for the last back-to-back winning seasons. Since 1985? 5 winning seasons.

I hope that this signing day is the one that flips the script.

It's difficult, but I'm also trying to anticipate what all this new recruiting stuff will mean, how it will impact things, who will flip on their commitments, who will bolt elsewhere. I just don't think it pans out well for UNLV - but it won't pan out for any school in conference.

Plus, yeah, historically, yeah, we suck and I'm used to it and expect it. Not going to lie, I did have some confidence during the JRob years - I wasn't crazy about everything, but I really anticipated those seasons because I felt we had a chance to do something. Since then? Not a lot of confidence in the program to finish above .500.

10 kids for this early signing period. 6 HS kids and 4 JC players. Not as heralded as last year‘s class (though there‘s still time), but definitely quality players. I know they plan on hitting the transfer portal harder than usual this year. Hopefully get some quality players there.

This strikes me as nowhere near enough. Am I wrong here?

If the school and staff can't get excited enough to make a big deal out of today...

Is there a list of these that they've put out yet?

My rivals app is not blowing up my phone with any recruits..

It's interesting. You'd hope for more players (we signed 19 early last year), but just about all of the recruits this year are high quality. Let's hope they continue to fill out the rest of the class nicely in the next couple of months.

I imagine they'll add more HS/JC players in Feb, but also planning on several transfers. Year 3 is a big year for Arroyo. General rule of thumb that I've heard several times is that coaches are generally judged on years 3 & 5. Based on that (along with or a more manageable schedule) and it stands to reason that Arroyo would look for more immediate help

I like the new blood Salisbury, Masters, Costanzo are my favorites and I love the frames of McKinney and Camac 4 years of proper weight training and nutrition watch out. Signing day to me is like watching the NFL draft you love all your picks but you won't know until year 3 how well you really did.

Is Masters in anyway related to Internet Rebel Great Rashad Dodd-Masters?

Talk about finishing early signing Day with a whimper.

An unranked defensive end with no other offers and an OL transfer from SMU who didn't start last year. Arroyo needs to pick it up.

A lot of complaining is all I hear. Arroyo has the chops so let's see how this turns out. Then, maybe after the plague is over and people start thinking again, we can see people in the stands instead of four year olds with masks on.

What make the pick even more solid is that UNLV was able to pick up a star player out of Liberty which recently has been sending almost as many quality players to major football programs as Bishop Gorman. It is time that UNLV finds a way to keep the top level local talent instead of being attacked by social media for not recruiting second tier local talent who are passed over by the better football programs.

I laugh every time I see someone pissed off at UNLV because a local kid didn't get an offer to play at UNLV and instead ended up at either a junior college or other lower tier football program. If these players are good enough to play at a division I program, then they would get offers at other schools! UNLV instead must make the top 10- 20 Nevada football recruits their top priority whenever possible and if the talent is there to help the program.

He committed verbally as a junior and then moved to Las Vegas. Kept his commit. That gives us three D1 quarterbacks. Solid. Arroyo knows qb's. I see UW struggling to get players. Oft injured Indiana qb who is really good transferred to the Dawgs. We need the Pac10 to be good because they schedule a lot of MW games. Back to your point, kids go to other schools to get away from Mom and Dad and perhaps get a education at a more prestigious school. The lure of making new friends and living on your own are a big deal to an 18 year old.

Recruiting locals has always been tough since the highly recruited players know that they can always "come home" to UNLV if things don't work out elsewhere, because there is the "U Never Leave Vegas" stigma with high school kids in general, because local kids have seen how little support and media coverage UNLV football gets, and because local kids hear a lot more about the lack of football success the program has gotten used to.

SDSU will always have a leg up on UNLV here for G5 talents as long as they have Hunkie Cooper recruiting, have a winning reputation, and a campus in California.

Don't play with my heart!

It was the plan. This is the early signing period. Look for coach to go heavy on portal transfers for another 12-15+
That's really what we need. The young HS guys are great, but most won't contribute right away. We need some difference makers and quality depth guys right away. Hopefully we can get some of them.

Arroyo needs to win 5 games minimum next year and the team should have a few chances to become “bowl eligible” before the word progress can be used around here!

considering they have any easier schedule, 4 wins will not be enough. Sanchez is gone and he won 3 games in the first year, 4 games in the second and 5 in the third, and dropped back to 4 each of the next two seasons. So far Arroyo is 0 in the first season and 2 in the second, 4 in the third is not progress, that is an easier schedule!
