Shane Nowell

Who is this?!

From the Sun-

Nowell was originally a 4-star recruit in the Class of 2021, and he was rated the No. 84 prospect in the nation that year by 247Sports. He chose Arizona over offers from Washington, Washington State, Oklahoma, Montana and Montana State, and he stuck with the Wildcats even after head coach Sean Miller was ousted from the program.

In his one year at Arizona, Nowell appeared in 19 games but only averaged 3.5 minutes per contest. He totaled 15 points, 15 rebounds and six assists on the season while making one of his five 3-point attempts.

Played 66 minutes for the season. I can see why he transfered. Too much talent at Arizona. Definately a great get. Saw he was disaplined for something. Hope thats out of his system. Fits into everything we r trying to do here. Pressure d anyone. Now let's get a great center with last scholarships before 🇨🇦 Canada?? Or does hampshire come back?

A player with skills who was lightly used as a freshman at Arizona is exactly the type of player Kruger can turn around and make a productive part of the rotation. In regards to his suspension, I find it very likely that he was getting frustrated with the lack of playing time, and did something that got him on the hot seat with the coaching staff at Arizona.

I think anytime you can get a former top 100 player with (potentially) 3 years left, you jump on it as long as the kid doesn't have character issues. We have a logjam now at the 1-3 spot. Looks like we will probably see some 4-gaurd lineups at times with Cotrell, Vic, and Muoka our only post players. I would think the last schollie has to go to a post player with some eligibility.

Totally agree, like Williams last year he turned up to be vaulable player. Ham definetly was a good player! I do like how Kruger is picking up P5 players (experienced in Both Eli's, and Luis and potenial young players like Nowell, and Contrel. Jackie I hope is a good pick up too his 10 pt average a game is not bad for a Freshman. Maybe Hall will be a sleeper.

Could completely negate losing Williams. He's the same kind of athlete(bigger even) with similar situation of wanting more minutes to prove his worth.

I'm totally stoked over CKKs 2nd recruiting haul. Would love to have a young big man but we're in great shape no matter. Best recruiting class in the MWC and one of the better ones in the whole nation.

I tried to see if there is team ranking when combining transfers and high school signings. All I found was 247 hasn't even have us landing Cottrell yet let alone hall or Nowell. So it is a good recruiting class but not sure how it compares considering I have no idea how other mwc teams finished their recruiting classes

JT, I don’t think our fan base realizes how significant our recruiting class is. They think we need this and that…I’m like..WTF??

Isaiah Cottrell was a .97 on the recruiting scale. 9 points higher than Nolan. These two top 100 players bring us back to how Rice recruited. Hall is a solid 3 star, Jenkins was a 3 star. We have the starting pg for Oklahoma, the best defensive guard in the Pac 12 who shut down the #6 draft choice from Arizona, whom Nolan played behind. This team is loaded at guard/small forward. Iwaukakor and Muoka are the only non shooters on the team and Victor was showing good form before operation. I'm waiting for Hall to dominate too. Everybody on this team has handles and can play point guard. Sounds like Villanova to me where everyone can put up the 3 or slash to the rim and play lock down defense. Can't wait.

For transfers we were ranked fourth in the nation before Nowell, I think Arkansas and Musselman were number one. 247 has us at 30 with only four transfers, don't think it's been updated.
