OT vs the worst team in the league. Mortifying. And OT hasn't been kind to UNLV

Diong & Juiston both in the game? We need to keep the ball out of their hands

Well, thanks to OT, their scoring average didn't suffer so much. There...I found a silver lining. I'm exhausted...'Nite all.

I'll take a win any way we can get one but holy cow what happened to our vaunted advantage on the boards? Silver linings - Diong was lively and should play more in the future, Jordan and Jovan dished out 7 and 6(but had 7 turnovers between them), and we did win.

I still think we have the makings of a solid team and that our failings are correctable but we've definitely lost our competitive fire from earlier in the season. We crushed Utah and should have beaten Arizona and N.Iowa. I don't believe we're this bad.

I don't believe we're this bad.
No, we’re definitely not this bad…

Part of it was playing down to the competition. Until JoJo hit that three-pointer in OT, they couldn’t hit a jump-shot to save their lives. And it wasn’t just three’s that they were missing. Even two’s from the elbow weren’t going down. I haven’t seen any stats from the game, but I'll bet that a great deal of our baskets came in the paint.

Mooring was invisible, except for a few nifty assists, until overtime. The only shooter that had any success was Kris Klyburn. Brandon was not bad in the offense, but bafflingly, had no boards. And Shakur had a pretty good first half, but absolutely disappeared in the second. He did contribute in OT, however.

On the bright side, we got some valuable contributions from the bench, for a change. Trevell Beck kept us in the game early on. and Mbacke Diong was simply great. With McCoy in foul trouble, he provided a lot of strong minutes for the Rebels. And despite his deficiencies as at the foul line, he hit just enough to send it to overtime.

Johnson and Mooring combined for 13 assists. 7 for Jordy and 6 for JoJo. But they also had 7 turnovers. All in all, it was a sloppy effort. But I can understand why it went like that. The obscenely sparse crowd, combined with the issues they had with the power-outage, which deprived the Rebels of an opportunity to have a shoot-around prior to the game, contributed to an inconvenient situation.

So I suggest we take the “W” and move on. By season’s end, it will just be a number on the plus-side of our record. Hopefully, we’ll be a bit more focused when we take the floor at the T&M on Saturday, vs Utah St. The Aggies picked up a nice 81-79 win over Fresno St last night. So, we’d better be prepared for them.

Great to see the Rebs take it to rack in in OT and pull out the W! So nervous, had to turn off the TV. I'll take a MW road win any day of the week. The play last night is not the norm so hopefully they come out better on Sat.

Go. Fight. Win.

Missed watching it, but sounded like another nail biter. Conference play..... have to come to play every game. Regardless, road win is always good. Wonder if Stadium has a replay?

This may have been the LEAST satisfying win EVER. The only positive thing about the win was it kept us from the WORST loss EVER!!!

Anyone know Jovan took only two shots. The guard play has been atrocious. Whatever funk the team is in, they need to get of it quickly. This showing was SAD, VERY SAD.

I swear. Don’t watch. Take the W and run. Be happy with just that.

Some things can’t be undone. Don’t watch.
Agreed! I frequently go back and re-watch Rebel games. Wins only. But there will be no re-watching this one. They just don’t come much uglier than this. When the opponent is factored into the equation, it’s, as Jon Sandler might say, a …….slaaaam dunk!

If you missed this game, consider yourself fortunate.

Absolutely. I can't recall ever feeling this un-satisfied by a win. It was down-right depressing. If the opponent was anyone other than the hapless Spartans, we'd be looking at an 0-2 start to our conference season.

If the Rebels don't shake themselves out of this funk, we're headed for some embarrassing losses. We can only hope that they'll take this as a wake-up call...Again!

The overnight line has the Rebels as a whopping 11.5-point favorite. That’s a pretty hefty margin on the road. Interestingly, it’s the exact same line as UN-Reno-CC is laying at home to the Cowboys of Wyoming. These numbers are from my off-shore book. Lines may vary slightly at other locations.

The Spartans boast a sparkling 3-10 record, 0-2 in conference. they opened the OOC season with a 52-point beat-down of Antelope Valley University, an NAIA team. After that things have gone mostly downhill. They dropped 3 straight before registering a home-win vs the Big Sky’s Idaho State. They registered their third win two weeks ago, after a 5-game losing streak, in an upset at WCC’s Santa Clara. They’ve now come up short in their last two match-ups. Both MWC games. The first was a 14-point road loss at Utah St. The second, a 7-point defeat at the hands of Colorado St, on the Spartans home floor.

The Rebels ought to handle this one, barely breaking a sweat. But it is the road. They’d still better come to play.

Go Rebels!

You should bet against them.

They never fail to disappoint as double digit favorites
