Looks like they will be going with Whitely is listed as the starter followed by the freshman duo.
I read that they held Thomas out of the scrimmage due to being comfortable with his skill and to avoid injury. I'm hoping they give him a lot of live work as a pass blocker in the final scrimmage this weekend though. I don't know if the plan is to keep the backs on the move in the passing game but you have to keep Decker healthy especially through a loaded front half schedule.
Last week of practice before game prep kicks in.

I thought all along the one thing that might hold Campbell and Thomas back was pass protection. Although Whitely may start the season as the #1 guy I think by the end of the season the carries will be pretty evenly distributed between the three. I can see a scenario where they all get featured during a series. They also showed some two back looks with Whitely and Thomas on the field at the same time last practice.

Good tidbit regarding the scrimmage and L. Thomas, Will. I was really disappointed when I read scrimmage recaps and never saw mention of Thomas. After the glowing reviews here I was skeptical when he wasn't mentioned in the scrimmage recap. Your tidbit makes me feel a little better. Thanks.

I think you will see the staff be very careful not to overwork Thomas. While you see a lot of backs his size have success at the D1 level durability has to be a concern. Especially factoring in he is a true freshmen.
