Rj article on qb development

He can flat out run. I still believe he would be a play-maker at WR if he ever converted over but I doubt it will happen. He's tall, has the instincts, and is quick in the open field. His knuckle ball passes and decision-making limit him at QB.

Palendech brings a threat with his legs that opens up the running game but limits the WRs.
Based on last fall, Sneed is more of a 'play within your yourself' quarterback. He can distribute the ball but he doesn't bring an impact skill set.
Unless Rogers is day one ready, I wouldn't be surprised if Palendech is the primary #2 quarterback again this season.

I tend to agree with Will here.

I think the absolute ideal situation would be for Rogers to win the #2 job, and get those reps, with Stanton staying healthy the whole season. Rogers gets the extra reps and keeps his redshirt.

Palandech might still see some time on the field. I dont think he will get whole series, but I could still see him going out for a play or two a game.

I used to think WR was an option for Palandech but where would he fit? Boyd, Keys are the 1 & 2. Pressley and Woods were singled out by Sanchez as having taken some nice strides. Plus the guys heading into camp in the fall.

If Stanton is healthy, I have ZERO problem with Palendech as the backup, and I'd like to see him get 5-10 snaps per game. His speed and running instincts make him a huge threat.

I'm assuming Palendech will be the #2 this season also. I'm expecting however, or rather, hoping, we don't see him on the field half the season like last year. I'm hoping we always have a better QB option on the field than Palendech. That said, I hate to see Palendech's athleticism wasted on the sideline, which is why I'd love to see some action at WR.

The experience Caleb Herring got at WR actually helped him become a better QB too. Not to mention we could run a variation of plays with essentially 2 QBs on the field.

I guess I'm suggesting that Instead of rotating Palendech between QB and clipboard, why not rotate him between QB and WR to maximize his impact.

@DocRebel it's not a bad idea, and it did work for Herring, but I'm not sure I like the idea of taking plays away from our receivers. Boyd and Keys are established targets/threats. I've heard nothing but good things about Woods and Presley. I also want Price to get a lot more targets -- he's shown flashes of brilliance at times during his career.

My ideal would be for Stanton to start and stay healthy all year, with Kurt brought in from time to time for a change of pace and to keep defenses on their toes. But if Stanton were to go down, I'd like for Sneed to be ready to step in, again mingled with Kurt at times.

Hopefully we are able to beat Jackson State and Idaho handily enough that Sneed could get some game reps early and be better prepared to step in. Kurt should always be ready to step in if needs be because of the time he got last year and the snaps he could get this season as change-of-pace.

Best case scenario is Stanton stays healthy, Rogers red shirts, Palandech gets snaps to change pace. Year after that, Stanton rules the conference, Rogers is 2, Grayson red shirts/ brings a few of those good Desert Pine players and Palandech still gets snaps to change pace.

That or Palandech takes a throwing lesson from Stanton. Palandech can throw the distance, it's just not clean.
