I've steadfastly defended DR through all of the slings and arrows directed his way for the past 4 years. I have to admit that this loss has shaken my faith. Up by four with a minute-and-change left on our home court. There is just no way that should have resulted in a loss.

I truly believed that this team was going to be different. This team had the right mix of veterans and newbies., not to mention the talent present. This team would know how to finish.

The seniors, who are supposed to provide the leadership, are delivering exactly the opposite. Seagears continues to launch ill-advised three's which clang off the rim. And Nwamu, although he occasionally gets hot and can fill-up the box score, also keeps charging into traffic and making bone-headed plays.

Our best player has suddenly forgot how to play. The only guard on the floor that played like he wanted to win this game was Poyser. Ben Carter can always be counted on for hustle, but even he contributed to the numerous missed free-throws, which would have given the Rebels a comfortable lead. If you happened to hear the radio play-by-play, you'd have heard Robert Smith, probably the greatest foul-shooter in UNLV history, comment about the team’s lack of form and concentration when attempting free-throws.

I realize that all of this was blatantly obvious to anyone who witnessed this game. I guess I'm just venting, as I must accept the reality that perhaps I've been backing the wrong horse. I'm unsure about what will happen to the talent level if we change head coaches after this season, but what is certain, is that the current leadership just isn't working.

But for whatever reason, Rice lacks the ability to bring his team home when the game is on the line.
So we're almost already at the point where we must win three games in March in order to get to the NCAA's.

Very discouraging...

My sentiments exactly.
