I think they did have a charge sent out of it a number of years ago after a TD, but something changed to stop that… go figure. I could be wrong- maybe I’m confused with AF games, but I could swear it was the Fremont Cannon. And I hate to say it, but I think UNR started doing it.

I believe the last time it was fired was in the 2000 season. UNLV won the trophy and some players and students lifted it and tried to carry it towards the center of the field. As I recall they dropped it around the 25-35 yard line. I was there. The cannon was damaged and restored. The barrel may have had a crack in it. It hasn't been fired since that I know of.
