I haven’t the foggiest who is going to start. I prefer Maiava, but would be ok with Doug. With our rushing attack and Doug’s legs, we can pass 300 yards again.

this is speculation, for some conversation. But lets assume Doug can go. But let’s say CBO is more comfortable with Maiava. I don’t care what’s said in the actual press or what comes out of a coaches mouth. They have psyches to guard against, team chemistry, they have to consider so much more. There’s mostly gray there. If Doug IS ready, he said he would start. Maybe he’s 100 percent honest. Maybe he’s keeping UNR guessing. I know I wouldn’t give a heads up to the opposition ever. Even if Doug is ready to go, but CBO wants Maiava instead, it could be a saving face move to not go with Doug and just say he’s not quite ready.

i wouldn’t say we are weak at QB, but we are inconsistent and unstable there. I know Doug has some mental hurdles. I know he’s in love with the short, safe passes where he can grab a high completion rate and reduce those negative pesky turnovers. But I feel we need somebody who isn’t afraid to go deep, somebody that will hit the middle instead of the flat. Gotta get out of your own head.
