Sources: SEC, Big Ten building momentum to further expand College Football Playoff to 14 or 16 teams
The conferences are pushing to assign multiple automatic qualifiers per league, with as many as four each for themselves. In short, a plethora of changes are on the table.
The rich going to get richer.
In a 14 team playoff the BIG and SEC get 4 bids each. ACC & Big12 get 2 each, G5 gets one and one wildcard guaranteed to ND if ranked in top 14.
In a 16 team playoff it’s the same format but add 2 more wildcards, which would go to the 15th and 16th ranked schools.
A lot of other stuff in the article like SEC finally may go to 9 league games, each BIG and SEC school may play one game against each other every year, payouts and what may become of conference championship games.
