FWIW, it’s not just pressers, it’s postgame commentary as well. I used to tune in to postgame talk and listen to Bayno explain what he saw in the game. Spoon was ok, he sometimes had some folksy cliche but haven’t really paid attention to them. Lon-Rice-Marv were all dry ball/zero personality.
TJO was actually decent in explaining the game and he was not afraid to pull punches, even publicly benched guys. Then there was the previous coach, I couldn’t listen to any of what he was talking about. Someone correctly described his personality as a trout.
Just couldn’t follow it and I can only imagine how it was in practices.
I dont think Kevin could explain what happened at the end of games. Honestly, we lost what 8 or 9 games this year after going scoreless in the final 3-5 minutes... So hed just ramble off an answer to what ever soft question was asked, throw out the coaching cliches like "we just couldnt get it done down the stretch or our guys played tough but they just made more shots..."
I miss Marvin's post game quotes.. I used to tweet "Menzies Motivational Posters" with a saying after each loss because he'd say things that were counter-motivational...
Couple of negatives from the presser/interviews:
1. Talks about bringing back former players into the fold. Feels like he doesn't really understand that's been done /talked about a ton and then something happens to push them away again. How many times can they be yoyo'd around? Seems like most would be too hard by now?
2. It sounded like he wasn't prepared for the job and was overwhelmed by everything he needs to do from putting together a staff, to talking to current players, to recruiting, and getting back to people who have reached out to him.
Some positives:
1. His attitude towards NIL, making it work for him and saving time in the recruiting process. I really really liked how he said he is a people person and will enjoy the process. That's huge.
2. He seems knowledgeable and up to date with health/conditioning/training and player development. He started needing out talking about vo2 max and shit. Hopefully he brings some cool conditioning/training approaches to the program that can attract players. Plus he seems to enjoy being out there working as hard as the players.
Seems knowledgeable and more mature from his coaching experiences.

I sort of took it like he thought it was crazy that it had happened and was going to be on the point of the spear of changing that. But I can see where you're coming to your conclusion.
If nothing else it will be fun to see who Pastner hires as assistants and what sort of roster he assembles. Add CDM’s first spring practice and it ought to be an entertaining month of April.
