LOL... CBS Sports, just like the MWC. I highly doubt they are getting the large premiums they expected
yes. Exactly. The Apple Cup, 1 Boise St. game, and OSU vs Oregon.3 regular season games for both Basketball and football plus title games on CBS 'Proper'. For 8 total.
Meaning basically anytime WSU, OSU host UW or UofO, CSU hosts CU and one big Boise home game.
Basketball will be pretty much Gonzaga.
Due to the fact that we haven't heard anything on the whole PAC/MW settlement, is it at all possible that the negotiations are going poorly for the MW, and one of the remaining MW schools is considering the jump? Even UNLV?
There's a bunch of rumors on X right now talking about this being the week that the PAC will reveal all of their cards. Sounds like Texas State will be the 8th member, but there's rumors of a 9th full member also.

No. UNLV isnt going anywhere and none of the other MWC teams were wanted by the Pac 12. The lack of resolution on mediation means its likely more favorable for the MWC.There's a bunch of rumors on X right now talking about this being the week that the PAC will reveal all of their cards. If I read correctly, they also arent able to expand their partners? CBSSN gets rights to football and basketball with a few games on CBS...As a former Paramount Global/ CBS employee, let me make this statement: Womp. womp.
This is not the transformational deal Gould was talking about. Also, CBS just laid off another 3.5% of the company a couple of weeks ago. I believe that's wave 6 of layoffs since last year?
I believe they would have additional partners. But CBS is going to be the main one, so they get to cherry pick the best games. It would make sense to me if they had a deal with fox for supplemental basketball or another streaming service like trutv. If I read correctly, they also arent able to expand their partners? When mediation is done.. I expect alot of this to begin to wrap up as they announce media deal, 8th member and try and move on into their new G6 conference..There are a lot of posters here with deep dives of info and it’s clear all of you have had good points to share on this PAC 2 media deal but my question is, when will we (MWC) know about the exit fees owed to us and get an idea of how much that will be for UNLV financially?
If they add those two programs, I can see them pushing down towards $6 million per year. Rich has a losing record almost every year, they average around 18K fans per season this last year, and they have a total of about 8,500 students. I do not believe the MWC would even consider Rice at a half share.Ninth full member possibility if TX State is 8th.
Rice...They have the money. Would give TX State a travel partner.

I have to wonder if the Pac network is dead now with CBSSN deal. Also yes, the bridge loan idea for exit fees seems like a good way to not get any media revenue for a few years as well as no CFP payouts.. Im not sure how these schools are going to be able to afford those hits and try and implement the house settlement.Say the departing MWC5 do take out bridge loans from the PAC as reported by San Diego Tribune. (Compensation for MWC withholding 2 years of revenue)
Loans typically have interest.
MWC5 would be filling the coffers of OSU/WSU with interest paid, not the actual PAC or PAC enterprises or network.
I'd assume there is a a non disclosure for the settlement progress and that not a valid peep comes out until after settlement is reached. Anything happening in there is not gonna be leaked and if it is, there would be actual penalties i assume.Due to the fact that we haven't heard anything on the whole PAC/MW settlement, is it at all possible that the negotiations are going poorly for the MW, and one of the remaining MW schools is considering the jump? Not necessarily. The Pac could use their own network to cover non revenue sports. CBS is only taking football and mens basketballI have to wonder if the Pac network is dead now with CBSSN deal. I asked this on the WCS board. What 26-28 CFP money? The Pac-2 is getting a pity handout for FY 25 and 26 ($3-4M I believe) but I know of nothing beyond that other than the pittance G5 conferences get now.
Every single school in the Ivy league are also loaded with money, but they would do nothing but drag down the athletics of a conference, which is why Rice was never able to get into a decent conference after the SWC dissolved in the 90's. The only way that they would have any value is if they needed an 8th team and they came in with a zero percent of the media contract.Smallish school. But they are absolutely loaded...
They may be the addition they may not. Who knows.
Seems odd a school that really doesn't prioritize athletics would spend 20+ million in exit fees to switch conferences to 'improve' athletics.
Why not just upgrade facilities? Or make bigger coaching hires.

I believe its the percentage each conference gets from the CFP committee.. not the participation $, but the payout- so APR and then also the 300k each school gets individually... for context- the G5s last year got 103 million aggregate- AAC, CUSA, MWC, Sunbelt, MAC... thats a pretty decent chunk of change- approx.. 20 million each per conference, so that's could be an extra 5-10 million per season for OSU/WSU.I asked this on the WCS board. And to rebel's post on the Pac-12 network. That went of the air a year ago, so yeah it is dead. The Pac-12 Enterprises (production, etc. is left. I don't believe there is any thought about restarting the network itself.
Well the reports tell us that WSU and OSU get the $3.6M through 2028 (fiscal 6/30/2028?). That date part is not clear. But no, not $5-10M. Now if we have a functioning conference in another year, that could change, but no way WSU/OSU gets to keep the whole CONFERENCE'S share of this $103M post 6/30/26.I believe its the percentage each conference gets from the CFP committee.. not the participation $, but the payout- so APR and then also the 300k each school gets individually... for context- the G5s last year got 103 million aggregate- AAC, CUSA, MWC, Sunbelt, MAC... thats a pretty decent chunk of change- approx.. 20 million each per conference, so that's could be an extra 5-10 million per season for OSU/WSU.
I still just crack up every time they refer to themselves as the Pac-12.
These dudes are hanging onto that sooooooooooooooo hard. It's comical.

That's what my urologist said when he prescribed BlueChew the other day. And promised that all those hot chicks from their commercials would be beating down my door. Hoping all will show up by the end of the week. You'll have a functioning conference by end of the month.
No... Because WSU and OSU have an over-inflated sense of worth and Boise St. didnt want to get out covered by the emergence of UNLV. So now theyll have a conference that they can dominate, and OSU/WSU get to maintain their "elite" branding of the "Pac 12" even though everyone knows its not the Pac 12...That's what my urologist said when he prescribed BlueChew the other day. Just kidding. I don't need boner pills. And at my age, that impresses the chicks. But this whole fiasco has been such a mess. You know I was always for the reverse merger. If The Pac-2 had just had the conversations from the get-go. Explore it. Would the MW choose to disband (9 votes back then?) with the premise that those 9 would immediately join the new Alaska/Hawaiian Air PacWest conference? And Gloria becomes Commissioner? And PacWest HQ in Vegas? Chase the Holiday and LV Bowls and hope to keep one or both? Or take the whole lot of you with certain required funding/attendance/whatever provisions? It could have worked. Probably $10's of millions in combined lawyer fees later, both conferences are kind of F-ed up.
Well I didn't say that and don't disagree at all. You think I like Teresa Ghoul touting our new, apparently mostly CBSSN media deal? No numbers attached of course, but my $5 sez it's under $10M. You think I like having to poach the Sun Belt to get our 8th member?No... What odds are you offering, because at even money I'm not taking that bet.but my $5 sez it's under $10M.
No, Mike's solid, non AI. However thats just an assumption everyone is making that CBSSN chose the PAC and essential undercut the MWC. Im still of the belief that they plan on having more content and likely will host both at a detriment to boths media rights deals.
Per the headline of this tweet, CBS is replacing MWC with PAC. Where does the MWC end up?
I didn’t click the article since I’m not sure if this is one of the AI accounts.
If PAC gets a good tv deal and is acknowledged as a Power 5 conference, UNLV can leave. It's in the letter so let's go, like yesterday. There's a bunch of rumors on X right now talking about this being the week that the PAC will reveal all of their cards. I call bullshit on that article. Click bait!
