I didn't realize that Cal was moving too. Is that certain?I wonder if UCAL will Honor our Home and Home scheduled games for '24 & '25? Or with their New found Money will they just buy us out.
Ok, that's fine. Thank you for the response.Lol, That was a typo I meant to say UCLA!
I wondered about this tooI wonder if UCAL will Honor our Home and Home scheduled games for '24 & '25? Or with their New found Money will they just buy us out.
I think they’ll keep it unless a PAC team wants to add them as a Non-Conference game. With 4 or 5 games across the country already I think UCLA will like having a close west coast game most years. I’m sure eventually the Arizona and California schools will take these games but maybe they’ll have some bad blood about being left behind at first. I’d try to extend that UCLA series if possible.I wonder if UCAL will Honor our Home and Home scheduled games for '24 & '25? Or with their New found Money will they just buy us out.
Anything to get out from under the thumb of Craig ThompsonCould make an argument for UNLV, but even if they get invited the BIG 12 would basically be only a slightly better version of the MWC. Like the MWC before Utah and TCU bolted.

A Billion here and a Billion there and, before you know it, you are talking real money.
bc, you heard anything in the rumor mill recently? Or basically just stagnant right now?
If there is no rush... It means they won't be adding any of the big boys.
I’ve heard a few things but nothing is concrete (obviously).bc, you heard anything in the rumor mill recently? Or basically just stagnant right now?
Thanks ttown. How are you guys feeling out there? Pretty weird time in the college sports environment.Hey guys - wazzu fan here. Pulling for you guys and SDSU to get an invite to the Pac-12. I think your school, your location, propped up in a bigger conference for money and exposure, could be a great program in both football and basketball.
Back when the big 12 was experiencing realignment (2010 -2012 or so) Baylor, who had been a conference doormat, realize they had to do something or they were going to be left out in the cold. They started cheating their asses off. They didn't really have the money to buy recruits so they started heavily into steroids and taking any player regardless of their background. They turn their program around big time in terms of winning. It is by far better for UNLV that the Pac12 and Big12 delay bringing in new schools until UNLV has the chance to turn things around this next season! Keep winning 4 or less games and most likely UNLV is screwed, but if UNLV can find a way to have a winning season, that can go a long way towards making UNLV a prime target!
Big12 only slightly better than the MWC? C'mon...what on Earth are you basing that upon?Anything to get out from under the thumb of Craig Thompson
If you’re referring to what I said (and LOCO quoting it), you’d have read my entire post for context.Big12 only slightly better than the MWC? C'mon...what on Earth are you basing that upon?
I don’t think we’ve ever played each other in football or basketball.Hey guys - wazzu fan here. Pulling for you guys and SDSU to get an invite to the Pac-12. TY for the words of support! Ironically, working against inclusion is Vegas itself (not intentionally). PAC-12 already holds its championship here (as do other conferences). Would the PAC schools be ok with a championship game at the home stadium of a conference member? If not the PAC-12 would need to recoup that lost revenue in another city which will be tough to do since it is hard to find a more lucrative site than Vegas. Our gaming/resort industry would also not be happy losing the PAC-12 championship so UNLV would need to convince them that they will make more $$ with the regular season conference games and other benefits of PAC membership. Tough sell all around even with interest from the PAC-12.I'm in the Seattle area. Other than the shock and anger of the LA schools decisions, most of us feel like the conference is going stay in tact. The geographic rivalries and cultural nuances of each state/region make the conference what it is.
Reality is locally, Cougs basically share the Seattle market with UW, college football wise. Basketball is more diluted to to Gonzaga's success. UW is obviously the first draw in football, but w/ the amount alums here, family connections and relationships each school have with each other, it keeps the region engaged on what each team is doing. Some of the Pac-12's charm has been parity and anything can happen on any Saturday. Nationally, they say it's a weakness. Locally, and on TV, it makes for entertaining games.
Both LA schools have ALWAYS been high maintenance, more so USC. The move by USC is not shocking. They have been thinking of being independent for years. Many of us believe they will be short-term happy with the money, but the travel and loss of their competitive edge due to a tougher schedule may having them rethink things in a few years.
Again, I am hoping UNLV gets in. I really think both your programs are sleeping giants. If you get more cash from the PAC, you can upgrade your coaching staff, facilities, etc. Vegas is going to benefit from this exposure as well.
Talking about that AZ, Utah stuff that you posted in the other thread, or movement with regards to UNLV?We may see more movement pretty soon.
Fresno over Unlv!! I can see SMU cause of the market but you got to be kidding me, UNLV over Fresno st. anyday!!
Ouch, if this is true!Fresno over Unlv!! I can see SMU cause of the market but you got to be kidding me, UNLV over Fresno st. anyday!!
I was thinking the same thing. The first 2 schools, however, do have great academics and very good olympic sports, so who knows.Berkeley doesn’t excite Berkeley fans.
Does Stanford athletics excite anyone?
The other two I can see being desired.
