OT: best places to eat in Vegas

Any suggestions for Italian? I want suggest a my parents to a nicer place. Giving them 120 bucks, and I would like them to use most of it. My dad is inherently a cheap ass so that may be difficult.

I suggest Mastrioni's on W. Desert Inn east of Town Center Dr. Excellent restaurant.I have been going there for years and have never had a bad meal there. Their menu leans towards fresh fish but they have extensive pastas, veal, and chicken dishes. If you really want to splurge try their veal chop with a marsala mushroom sauce. It will cost you, though.

I'm not a Thai aficionado, but I measure the thai restaurant by its pad thai. My favorite is Pin Kaow, followed by Archi's thai, then maybe Weera Thai.

Pat yourself on the back Las Vegas Valley - whether your eating at a food truck, in a traditional restaurant or in a world-class hotel/casino, this city features some of the best variety and quality food from around the world. That is a fact.

Italian? Easy, Oilve Garden. ;)

Kidding of course - Mezzo Bistro and Wine on Rancho and Craig is solid....if you can get in. This not so secret dining joint always draws.

Steak joints - there are a million of great ones but my fave, again in North Las Vegas is Bob Taylor's Ranch house. At north 215 and Tenaya, it serves up fantastic steakhouse selections at great prices, its not pretentious and is an excellent spot to celebrate a special occasion.

Had POPs once about 25 years ago. It was either just ok or I don't like Philly cheesesteaks. I always liked Gyrotimes gyros though. Just a little pricey with fries and a soda. For Buffalo wings I like Broadway Pizzaria. They taste like the ones my big sister used to get from the hood back in the 80s. I hate when they just cook the wings naked and just lazily slather them in Buffalo sauce. Prefer the sauce to be baked in at least a little!
Pop’s is gross. It is in the old Weinersnitzel building on Decatur. I went there only one time and got sick. Gyro Time is good for gyros, The Mad Greek is good as well.

Obviously it is NOT gross. It has been in business for like EVER!!. To each their own. I have had the same where people like a place and i hate it. I am sure it had mainly to do with you getting sick. I still dont eat tostados to this day. That is like 30 years in the making.

The Del Taco across from UMC Hospital gave me the runs twice because I didn't learn my lesson the first time. Don't eat there and if you do bring extra underwear.

On a related-by-physical-proximity note, the donut spot right there, Real Donuts, is outstanding!

Guys, what are your recommendations on barbecue ribs? I see they have some newer spots in town. Lucilles is solid. But what about the others?
bbq ribs at Ellis Island Casino...

baby back ribs..

was it better than the paddlewheel?

I worked at Winchell's in the late 80's for 3 days. Only reason I stopped was the super hot daughter of the owner was stealing money from the register and he couldn't blame her. Stupid dirty wench....but she sure was good looking.
Just think of the hell she is most likely dealing some poor devil right now.

I ate at this place with The Godfather called

Casa Di Amor on Tropicana west of Eastern East of Maryland Parkway.

they had a 3 piece live band. The vibe was pretty good and Joe Spilotro liked it and he’s tough on Italian food like anyone.

Yeah, really dug the vibe. Plus a ton of childhood memories in that building for me … old brick building used to be Pizza Inn, thin cardboard pizza that sucked, but it was an after game team eatery in Little League (Paradise Park had one field only), it was also a neighborhood place for us to gather at, all you can eat pizza and bottomless soft drinks on the weekends for 0.15 cents times your age for 15 and under. Yeah, we hung out there quite a bit until arcades popped up.

The food passed the muster for me.

Had Bautista’s hole in the wall Italian food.

between Koval lane and the strip on Flamingo.

their meatballs tasted nasty. No flavor whatsoever on the spaghetti.

23 bucks?

easy pass for me. The vibe was good but the food was awful. I don’t know what’s going on if it’s my taste buds or if I’m getting older.

I eat there literally every single day of the week and never had an issue.

Speaking of Del Taco, ever stopped by the Del Taco in Baker California on I15?

I swear they add extra beef and cheese to their tacos. You get like 3X as much beef and cheese compared to a regular Del Taco here in Vegas.

I would say stop at that place and get a peanut butter or strawberry shake at Mad Greek when doing a road trip.

On a serious note, Is Metro Pizza pound for pound, still the best pizza joint in Las Vegas?

Would never go to metro pizza ever in my life. I am modifying this to the fact I did work with the developer of one of their sites a long time ago, got screwed over, and so will never go there again.

Well, cant speak about the owner, but the pizza has been solid. Its not the very best, but its solid. Never had a bad pizza.

What did he do?

there’s 3 locations and they got one inside Ellis Island 2 for 1 prices on Thursday and Sundays..

How about best Mexican foodI like Roberto’s on occasion but, when it comes to a good Mexican joint, my recommendation is Casa Calavera inside the new Virgin Hotel.

they got great happy hour specials for 7 bucks...

Back to the 80’s Cafe is a cool new spot next to UNLV. I am not saying the food is the greatest but the Monte Cristo was very good and the burgers looked good. If you liked the 80’s you should check this place out.

Angry Chicks next to it has amazing chicken sandwiches. A little pricy at 6 bucks but better than popeye’s or Chick Fil-A.

UMMMM !! NO!!!!! Maybe because i get it hot. The spices are overpowering as in too much not too hot!!

I had it twice. The first time I had it plain and it didn’t taste great. The second time I had it with a little spice. It was good but does it really beat a 4 dollar chicken sandwich 🥪 from Popeye’s..

ive only had angry chicks twice...so it got better when it’s a little hotter...I have not had nuclear hot.

Donuts Winchell's maple bar
Thai- Lotus of Siam
BBq- Nevada chicken cafe or Big B's
Chicago -Windy City

Dude, how about sandwich shops.

I can’t believe I never heard of Cugino’s Italian Deli across UNLV and their roast beef sandwich was off the chain. The bread was good and everything was great. I saw people every 10 minutes walking out with a pizza.

Their Italian food looks yummy.
