We are only averaging close to 17k people a game this year for football games? Last year we averaged over 18k? The year before over 19k a game. Despite the progress Sanchez is making attendance is declining. That is pathetic. At least they made it over the 15k average for division 1 eligiblility. Maybe the basketball team can scrimmage at half time to get more people in the place.

I guess people at UNLV don’t care about the football program very much. Very disappointing.

Won’t surprise me if we surpass that average after tonight.

But losing to Howard popped a giant bubble with fan interest.

Haven’t heard a thing. I expect it to be above 20k though. Even though BYU sucks, I think their fans will attend. Several at work (BYU) are going tonight. Just based on a small sample size like that I have to believe there will be a good chunk of LDS in attendance.

My thoughts also. Not many lads in texas

The loss to Howard cost a lot of fans, but if they have a half decent crowd tonight, they should be back above 18.5-19K average for the season. You could have added 5K average if they didn't lose to Howard. For the casual fan, that ended the season before it even started.

To many BYU fans last night. I thought I was in Provo. No loyalty to unlv what so ever

If 17K sounds in any way low or surprising to you then it's obvious that you haven't been attending much this season. Very disappointing.

There was a paid total of over 19k there last night. Thanks to the BYU fans. Attendance has gone down every year Sanchez has been at UNLV. I thought it would have increased.

The product stinks, you lose to Howard blow 27 point lead to Air Force this is what you get in Vegas! It’s great front running town! Finish season on up tick beat New Mexico and UNR will help! Sanchez has got to recruit the garbage on defense has no business being in MWC let alone wCC which doesn’t have football league!

Why do you think football attendance should be increasing? Two home wins this season. UNLV is being completely out-marketed by pro sports. Media coverage is at an all-time low - many of the beat writers hardly even show up at spring training or practices any more.

The focus has shifted drastically. The only way to combat it is with winning. Good Marketing can get some out there, but ultimately it comes down to not being an overactive hen laying eggs all over the place. UNLV has been the only game in town and they just coasted with everything because there were no other options, zero competition. They got comfy doing nothing and having nobody to answer to. Now they gave to step it up huge while the others are coming out of the gate scorching.

Of course BYU is going to out draw the Rebs in LV when both are having poor seasons. BYU has a winning tradition and a National Championship Trophy to go along with a relatively short drive from SLC plus a large Alumni group in LV. Now add in the local LDS component and it was simply expected. For budgetary reasons, we should try to have them play us in LV every year. I know they wouldn't agree to that but with so many conferences going to 9 games in conference a season, BYU is having trouble with future scheduling. They may agree to 2 homes for us and 1 for them since it's such a cheap away game for them and so many of their fans enjoy the game here.

17K is a very generous number. Besides BYU there is no way 17K we’re in the seats.
