...they will lose this game. Offensive boards. How can that lesson be so hard to learn. Does no one go to the boards when shots go up?

It's currently 72-63 with 4:40 left. I have conceded. Nothing I've seen from this team gives me the slightest confidence in their ability to stage a comeback. Other teams do that to us. We don't do it to them...

Update:74-72 2:20 left-Go Ahead Rebels, prove me wrong...

I am delighted to report I was dead wrong. Nice comeback Rebels. Outscored them 16-2 over the last 4 min.. They remain unbeaten on the road.

But there are some areas that need serious work. Most notably the offensive boards. Had they rebounded better, this would have been a blow-out.

It will take a much better effort to deal with the likes of Fresno, and SDSU. But for now, let's take a moment to enjoy a win.

I pretty much wrote them off at that point as well but they are THE ROAD WARRIORS !!!!! The run came with Juiston and McCoy on the bench. Beck and Diong battling their big guys for position down low, Clyburn grabbing a key rebound and made a couple free throws, (where were those last game?) and JoJo came to life and did what we expect him to do.

Players made the plays tonight and didn't have many turnovers.

Defense really came up huge in those last 4:40.

Lots of pressure there. Did you see DRF sitting at the scorers table by the radio guys?

It's a 'w' and that's what counts most. Obviously not sold on it being a 'turning point' game as we were in serious trouble late but I'll take it. One big positive is they didn't fold when it would've been easy to. I hope our key guys are realizing what it takes to compete in conference play because we absolutely have the talent to challenge Reno and Boise St.

No, not a “turning point”, or maybe it is. We won’t know that until the season plays out. But a nice comeback, none the less.

I’m wondering if the “fire Menzies” people are going to give him any credit for keeping his squad motivated, and doing some serious coaching. Putting McCoy & Juiston on the bench, and inserting Nunu & Diong during “Winning Time”, took some guts.

And it paid off nicely. McCoy is young, and he’s an accomplished offensive presence. But he has much to learn about playing defense. Diong has proved himself at both ends. I am excited at the prospect of watching him develop over the next few seasons. Brandon will be gone after this one season.

Don’t misunderstand me, I’m appreciative of the choice that McCoy made by opting to become a Runnin’ Rebel. He could have gone to any P5 school. By coming here, we not only get his talent, but he also boosts our recruiting profile. The more first-rounders we develop, the more will be interested in coming to UNLV.

But Marvin had the guts, and the coaching intelligence, to put his prize pupil on the pine, when he needed the surge that ultimately resulted in a “W”for the Rebels. It was a great move.

He deserves some credit...

Gotta give Menzies credit, we lost.

If you watch the game our guards hold the ball about 90 percent of the time and don’t do crap with it.

JJ is terrible. He can’t shoot, he drives he has no where to go and he doesn’t create. I don’t like his game at all.

Add in Mooring and it’s winning time. He’s got the green light because he can beat scrubs like AFA. Put him in against someone athletic or better than him and he chokes it away.

I would have liked to see our front court get into a pissing match against their front court cause I felt it was our best chance at keeping the game close. They were kicking our asses but I felt we could have kicked theirs if we had an offense designed to get them good touches.

Instead we give it to winning time and he thinks he’s Robert Horry.

Again we choked it away in crunch time. Some things never change.
