Next Coach:

You think some guy at Whatever Tech or Nobody State can do better than Coach Sanchez!

Totally unrealistic.
Yes, I do.

The unrealistic expectation was for a High School coach to achieve FBS success. Very much like promoting a successful 7-11 supervisor to run the Hilton Corporation.

Way too much of a jump.

Oh just because a HS coach at Notre Dame didn't make it, means it it couldn't have worked here? Sure Notre Dame has endless resources, and tradition and money and it failed. But that doesn't mean it couldn't have worked here.

It could've worked here, but it didn't. That is a fact...we tried...we gave him PLENTY of time.... Tony is in his 5th year. 18 wins and (twice as many losses) 37. We look as bad this year as we did 3 years ago? What shit are you smoking to actually believe he should possibly be given another year ? You ARE delusional !!!

I'm being completely sarcastic.

I argued last season with people he should have been out. But, they needed to ensure the facility got funded.

Barring a miracle of biblical proportions, he's probably done.

This season looks just like last season and eerily similar to Hauck in year 5.

Defense there is minimal growth.

Offense has regressed.

Point differential in conference games has increased.

There are no valid arguments to retain him at this point that pertain to on field performance.

The funny thing is that we might be better than last year, at least we should be. Added some quality defensive pieces, more experience throughout the roster. We lost Lex, but Chuck has been an excellent replacement.

Last year was that soft of a schedule.

The rest of the conference is getting noticeably better. The OOC records reflect that.

We aren't keeping up. The offense has regressed with better pieces overall, and we are figured out to boot.

You could be right. The conference does look better as a whole this season.

Looking back at last years schedule was it all that much easier though?

SDSU, SJSU, HAWAII, RENO, FRESNO all the same. Home/Away just flips.

Played a ranked USU last year away, Boise at home this year. Pretty much a wash.

Played UNM at home last year, away to CSU this year. Pretty much a wash.

Played Air Force road last year Wyo road this year. Another wash.

So conference was basically the same.

Out of conference was a little tougher this year.

SUU/Prarie View wash.

Ark State/Ark State. That was a better Ark State team last year. We got beat worse by the lesser team at home this year.

Only two games you could really point to as being significantly more difficult would be the two other OOC.

USC/Northwestern SC last year vs Northwestern this year? SC better.

Vanderbilt/UTEP As bad as Vanderbilt has been UTEP was God awful last year.

Initially I thought this years schedule was significantly tougher not so much now looking back.

First off, the conference overall is better this season. Nearly to a team, except for us of course.

UNM was pretty bad last year, don't know about CSU this year but it is still a roadie. And of course UNM was a home game after a bye

SJSU is definitely better, Hawaii looks significantly improved.
AFA- Wyo probably a wash.

Boise-USU maybe a wash. Boise is the class of the conference this year, but USU was pretty good and a road came last year.

SDSU looks to be the same. And its hard to know what the hell UNR is.

Northwestern not nearly as strong as expected. They went to the B1G championship game last year, we are their only win this year.

Same thing with Vandy. They went bowling out of the SEC last year.

Agree Ark St. was a better team last year. But losing their coach for the first few games had made an impact.

I would say this year's schedule is tougher, mostly due to the improvement of the conference overall. Also avoiding Boise last year is more favorable than avoiding USU this year.

It is tougher. I just don't think its the murderers row we thought to start the year. NW, Vandy and Ark State are all down this year.

Conference is up though.

Last year UNLV was not a good team. We all understood that when we were 2-7, but then got kind of fooled when they finished with 34-29 and 27-24 wins over very mediocre UNR and SDSU teams. At this point last season we were in the middle of a 6-game losing streak in which UNLV trailed in games by scores of 41-0 to Fresno, 47-28 to SJSU, 41-21 to Air Force, 42-7 to Utah State, 50-7 to New Mexico, and 19-7 to Arkansas State... and of those six teams only Fresno and USU were top 80 teams (SJSU was 0-11 against the rest of their schedule and New Mexico's only other wins were Incarnate Word and NMSU - but sadly Incarnate Word and NMSU were both much more competitive against UNM than UNLV was)

This year UNLV's conference schedule is much tougher due to the Mountain division opponents. Last year the Rebs hosted New Mexico and Air Force and went to USU. This year it was hosting Boise and trips to Wyoming and CSU. CSU is bad this year but UNLV has something like 13 consecutive road trip losses going to the Fort Collins/Laramie area.

History proves your point. TS can talk football all day long but can't win at this level. Time for TS to update his CV. He looks like a good match for North West South East No Where State....
