If Gonzaga joins, and UNR stays strong, and SDSU improves. That is 3 tournament teams in our conference. Does that help UNLV or hurt it? UNLV, Boise St., and UNM all have potential to have successful programs. Throw in BYU and we have another strong rivalry that we are guaranteed to play every year.

A strong conference, new tv contract, and more money from post-season tournament revenue can all help. We still have a top notch facility, huge brand name, and fan base that will come out when we win.

I for one am really hoping Gonzaga joins us!

SDSU losing Pope and Trey Kell. Are they gonna improve? Boise will take a big step back imo. New Mexico has some transfers sitting out, they should be improved. Nevada will have more depth and will be great again. Pressure is on Menzies.

Gonzaga brings back some credibility to the conference. If as a conference we don't lay an egg in OOC then at least 2 teams should make the tourney. UNLV is its own worst enemy so unless we can make our own improvements, it doesn't matter what the conference does.

If we get Gonzaga and BYU, obviously because of Gonzaga, I think it becomes a 3 bid conference routinely.

And that is all it takes to pull us out of this downward spiral. Don't get me wrong, it will take UNLV more than a year to get itself together, but if we get 3 teams to the NCAA tournament each year for the next few years, that would be a huge boost in revenue. And better conference schedule makes more home games worth attending and being shown on tv, which also helps with revenue, and recruiting. Which makes our team better and increases our chances of winning, and it all builds up from there.

It's unfortunate that the MWC fell apart over the past four or five years, but if we can't get into a P5 then making the MWC better is the next best option.
