I see there is a mini trend to hire nba assistants as head coach as it worked for byu. Any shot we would go that way?

It worked for BYU but you also have to take into account that BYU has 7 different billionaires that i know of and who knows how many millionaires that are donors. They have the money to play the NIL game with pretty much any team in the country. That goes a long way to making a coach look great. Not saying Young isnt a good coach but allot easier to coach when you can afford top players in the country

The average NBA assistant is making around $ 900,000. I think it would be hard to lure one away to deal with a G5 basketball program. Especially since they are on path to be an NBA head coach. NBA head coaches make between $ 7 mil and $ 15 mil annually. Why come here - probably get fired in 3-4 years and get completely off the NBA track.

I don’t think John Welch would excite many except for a portion of the old guard who know him personally since he was a former player.
