Under new coach Pat Kelsey, Louisville has gone from 8 wins last year to a top 25 rating this year. He was at Winthrop and Charleston before Louisville. Just being at a small school does not mean you cannot coach. Many on this board would say no to a Pat Kelsey type of hire. Remember Tark started at a Juco and Beard was at Little Rock. Both could coach.

But Louisville fans, a school with a rich history, some very high highs but they’ve also had embarrassing lows and they’ve had scandal …. They allowed for slow growth. Their fans sat on their hands and said, yay, go team go! Aw shucks, by golly dagnabit! Good try!
A lot of parallels with UNLV/Louisville … but better parallels between UNLV and DePaul or USF.
and TJO was at south Dakota.... Its not like we haven't hired good coaches. The problem is they come in with our expectations that we're a Final 4 team with the right coach so they try and recruit a bunch of guys that can "fit" that build and then fall flat putting that team together. Now with the transfer portal you can hire those smaller school guys and let them bring 80% of their team with them who have already established a culture together and bring that in and win immediately. And that should come with the expectation that we should be a tournament team every year. Not just a hope to be in, not a "Well we made the NIT".. theres no reason or excuse.
Not only did Louisville only win 8 last season they won just 4 the year before that then fired their coach after a total of 12 wins in those 2 seasons.
A good coach and a couple of good players and a BB team can turn around very fast.

No they can’t. There are no examples of it. Including in our own backyard.
