Without a doubt. The reality compared to expectations have plagued this program for a long time. But the fact remains, you gotta have high expectations if you want to succeed. It is a slippery slope, but one that many programs navigate. Hell, we did in the past as well. I think that is where frustration sets in with the fanbase. We know it's possible. We've reached the top. It can be achieved. I think if the program could figure this out you'd see a lot of fans return. Take a look at football. Who thought we'd see 40K+ attendance 3-5 years ago? And that number could go up. For the first time in a long time, we have a competent AD who I think understands the landscape. I hope he is putting in the work for the next HC like he did for the last 2 football hires.
I DID!! II always said with the right hire with the stadium and facilities there was no reason why we could not be successful in FB. Vegas only supports winners. UNLV must invest to have any chance at success. Rice was a anomaly with his recruiting for what we were paying him. Now that NIL is a thing we can capitalize on it with a Home Run hire. Nobody is opening their pocketbook for CKK.

I get Menzies had all kinds of faults. But fact is we had more ballers in his last 2 years than we have since. And that covers a LONG time.
He had decent talent. Actually, he had some real talent but they were mixed in with duds. I liked Juice, Hardy, the kid that went to Baylor, the kid that transferred to Texas Tech and a couple of other really nice players like Hamilton. But we got smashed with low production/talent from some others, as well. He was pretty hit and miss with recruits.

But things weren’t serious in practice. They didn’t go hard. Expectations and goals were low.

The job should have never gone down that far on the list. He was the last name on the D list, probably only there not because he was sought, but because he showed interest. In fact, I know he wasn’t sought.
