I've been told....

I played 2 sports and did Band & choir. It took me a few years to decide what I liked the most. Plus my parents liked the fact that I was not out getting into trouble. Lol
I was always envious of the guys on the golf team. They only had 2 hours of school Golf tournament days.

We’re going to the Big 12!
Hey that would be my dream. I live in Big 12 country and would be able to reasonably go to 3 away games, one of which being in my city.

But I really doubt it. There has been some local talk on expansion, and I haven't heard UNLV mentioned once.

They've been mentioned in several national articles as contenders but really more of a backup plan behind CO and AZ.

I do get that, but I think it is noteworthy that the local markets do not feel like we are even worth mentioning.

I'm sure that's the case, since we're not currently a P5 school. Ultimately, the public perception doesn't mean too much though, if the decision makers in the conference expansion can be convinced.

That time for his 200 has to be a mistake. That's a slow time for a 400 let alone a 200
has to be 400, and that's not an awful time. It's not great either, but the 400 sucks nuts. I hated that race. Probably why I quit track after my freshman year and went to volleyball.

It's not as bad as the 300 hurdles, but anyone who chooses to full out sprint for a quarter mile has something wrong in their brain. I didn't have that mentality. I'll admit it.

A better indication of speed is the 10 yard shuttle. How fast can you get off the line and change directions? How often are WR running a quarter mile in a game?

Maybe it was meant to say 23.24 for the 200, instead of 53.24

For the conference adding UNLV isn't going to excite Big 12 fans, you are right. But adding Las Vegas to the conference is a different story. I don't know how many people I have come across that want to go see a Raiders game since being added, who don't give a crap about the Raiders.

I did have a patient that was a Las Vegas Raiders season ticket holder, living in Houston.

So it would be an interesting sports talk radio subject.

I buy that. And you take any advantage you can get, if that’s it, so be it. If you need the raiders for a stadium, so be it.

But for once I’d like UNLV to achieve things instead of needing backdrop charity.

I ran the 400, 300 hurdles, 4x400 and 110 hurdles in high school and the 400, 400 hurdles, and 4x400 in college at Michigan. My 400 time in high school was 47.1. For me the 400 is the funnest of all the races. But your right a 400 nor is a 200 have much to do with a wide receiver. That's why I like to look at their 40 times, tells you allot more of their speed.

You're badass. Crazy mindset to run the 400 and 300 hurdles. I can't even imagine the 400 hurdles.

My coach in HS used the 300 hurdles as punishment for those who missed practices or those who messed around in practice. We had throwers running the 300 hurdles in meets one time. Pretty funny to watch.

The Big 12 would want us because it puts a team in the Pacific Time zone which is a big plus for them. It puts Big 12 teams in all 4 time zones and also in all tv windows on a Saturday. It also brings the city of Las Vegas. This means instead of the Pac having their conference tourneys here, the Big 12 can and will. It damages the Pac 12 and helps the Big 12.

Plus the average fan has no clue about UNLV, but the presidents of Big 12 schools do. Our facilities are on par or better than the current Big 12 schools and our academic profile fits as well.

I agree. But the Arizona schools are so much more appealing than us. So it really hinges on them, imo. Phoenix is a better Market and U of A is a bball power and the Big 12 actually cares about that

I see that your argument and Backer's can be integrated and both of you are right. AZ is not Vegas and vice versa.

Yeah not sure why there isn’t time for sports and studies!? It’s called time management which is essential for kids to learn!
Yes, Hoya...I know what it is called. I worked 40 hours per week and attending college full time. It was not a good experience. As parents, we want better for our kids. 3.4 out off HS is not a good GPA.

Remember they don't need UNLV to do events in Vegas. If they expand to the west coast with other schools, they could still have tournaments and championships in Vegas.

I've convinced myself that there are no more than three people in each of the 4 major Power 5 conferences who have ANY idea what will happen. And even they don't know what the others will do. I think the most important issue for us is what will the PAC do after they resolve their media deals. If it's way lower than what they are currently getting the university Presidents will be screaming to dump the PAC for other conferences so they can get back to that cushy sports money they became used to. Then we should know if the rest of the conferences go to 16, 18 or 20 teams each and that will make things easier to compute. Until then it's just wishing and fog.

Ask and you shall receive...

There's a couple of guys that are silent commits right now. I talked to one of the best prospects in NV and he told me that he is also committed and he will go public before his season starts
