I don’t think anybody could complain about Memphis so much. Had we hired him instead of Otz ( he was available ), I think people would be ok.

To show how bad the GT job is, they hadn’t had a conference winning record in the ACC for 15 years. From Wiki:
“Tech and Pastner turned the corner in the 2019–20 season, going 17–14 and finishing 11–9 in conference play. It was Tech's first winning season in ACC play since 2004 and highest finish in the ACC since the 2005 season.”
UNLV basketball was dying a slow death under Kruger. Chances are Pastner has better recruiting and coaching skills than Kruger. Can't believe the contact amount of $500,000 per year. Personally, I think that it's brilliant backloading the contract. The coach gets back into coaching and UNLV saves money in the front and allows the school to bank some additional funds from increased attendance in football and, hopefully, from basketball from Pastner's efforts.
The outrage about Pastner is a bit surprising. With the criticism of KK for the past couple of seasons, the backtracking and saying that UNLV should have kept Kruger instead of getting new blood doesnt make sense. So keep Kruger just to complain about the same things for the next year? Pastner will be fine at UNLV and he will recruit well.
When you think your getting to eat at SW steakhouse (Will Wade) and you end up going to Texas Roadhouse (Josh Pastner) then you might end up being a little disappointed.
That's great comparison. Not blaming you for believing or hoping for Wade, as we should all have a sense of optimism, but that was never going to happen. Chatter about Wade from UNLV insiders and super fans was more of a wishful thinking piece.
Just to be clear Texas Roadhouse is solid. Just as long as it is not Outback (Kruger)
