Not that I had huge expectations for this season, but whatever I could muster up, so far, falling way short, obviously.
At this point, my hope - and expectation - is that Otz isn't the kind of fellow (I really don't think he is) that comes out with a bible full of excuses and fully embrace the victim mentality. It's a mechanism that poisons. I hope he's high with accountability and does not yield and I hope that accountability is on him and his staff, as well. And I hope that he does not set kids up for failure, instead he pushes them and gives them opportunity to succeed.
I believe every coach should have that, but as we saw last season, they don't, our guy had none of that. I think when a coach lacks those things, it gives an extra sour taste to everything that transpires.
It's a flawed team, we all knew that. I don't think anybody expected much. Highest hopes were probably for mediocrity or a bit above that. But regardless of what people expected, losing home games to Texas State wasn't one of those things.
