Harper....The next UNLV head basketball coach

There are not going to be many coaches available who have been to a final four without a multi -million $$ buyout. If he wants to coach - he'll coach.
I think he will too I just don't think it will be at a big conference school unless it is lower tier like Cal or the like.

IMO, he's be tough to get. If his name gets out, there are at least 10 programs with more resources that would give him a sniff and then one may bite.
I can't disagree. But if you would have told me DM would replace BO I would have felt the same on DM. Crean, Turgeon or Marshall in no particular order would be my priority if I were Harper. Also, all three have made big money in their coaching career. Although I like Wade's I feel his buy out is a potential problem.

Wade is at McNeese St correct, what is the buyout?

We will hear the keep CKK argument because some will say so many players will be back next year. We lose a bunch of seniors this year, Hill, Bedford, Swishrain among the rotation guys. I cannot see DJ or Whaley coming back. So out of the rotation guys, Henley, Bear, Pape, and Hill back at best. With Hill so bad of a shooter I could see him out of the rotation next year. We have redshirt Evans and some freshman coming in.

I view the potential returnees and newcomers not enough to move the needle a ton so the guys left are not a huge reason to keep CKK, but you will hear this argument come up now that CKK has had a mini good run from a depleted roster without what would be expected to be his best 2 players.

Coach burger did absolutely nothing here as far as recruiting and he is now at Iowa St in a P4 conference. His recruiting class on the way out included Devin Tillis and Jhaylon Martinez, seriously?! I could care less about him, he did nothing while he was here but some of you guys claim him like he was in the Rebel hall of fame.

He had one foot out the door, the minute he got off the helicopter!

I dont think it is wise to retain a coach because of player he is bringing in or able to retain. Doesnt matter how good the player may or may not be if the coach isnt capable to do his job why keep him?
Kruget needs to go, and go this year. Retain him and it shows that at this point UNLV doesnt hold any importance for basketball.

Tillis averaging 12. 7 points and close to 8 rebound a game at Irvine

If Rice’s class didn’t save his job in a time where there was a higher likelihood for players giving you multi years, a recruiting class in going to save nobody nowadays. Menzies even had a higher expected upside with his (expected) returning roster and incoming class and nobody batted an eye at his firing.

Now a coach can bring his own players with him from his last team. We're in a different time as far as recruiting goes.

This is factually incorrect... His class he had coming before he jumped to ISU had Zaon, Kaluma, and Gilbert... it fell apart when he left and Zaon crashed. He kept Bryce Hamilton.. had he been at UNLV one more year, that team would've been stacked.

Scary that some people on here are now considering whether Kruger should stay? Win a couple of games and he goes from out the door, to let us rethink that? A good hire could be worth millions in basketball ticket sales, keeping Kruger could put them in the Cox center to play their games!

Just can’t keep a barely over .500 coach drawing 2 thousand fans a game after four years. We should be much better than we have shown to be. It could be so much fun. Rebels return to relevance. It’s there for the taking.

Yep he had those guys but like you said, it did not happen. But his stellar class included Tillis and Martinez too, that ain’t nowhere good enough to me!

You can’t look at the last three games, can’t look at an NIT appearance. You have to look at the totality and part of that is … fan interest, which is reflected by actual butts in seats, not the double number of season ticket sales. Actually, if your butts in seats are half of your announced (season tickets sold), what’s that say? People who spent cold hard cash without an ability to refund are saying f it, it’s not worth it.

We have no active say in what UNLV chooses to do. But fans to have a reactive say in the choice that’s made and that’s just what they’ve done with the last three hires by not showing up. If UNLV makes a change, it has to be a significant upgrade, imo.
