Maryland fans say Turgean could recruit but couldn't Coach. especially his offense. Thought he had low expectations.

Living in great state of MD, Turgean was ok recruiter, MD and especially PG County is hot bed for recruiting. Would he be good hire, yeah he be better then anyone combined since Lon was here. He do well here, top 30 I think, once in awhile sweet 16, and that would bring money to school and long term with football would help. There is no reason UNLV shouldn't be battling AZ/Gonzaga type programs. The crappy administration bringing in type low ceiling no winning coaches in shameful!

Wade, Marshal or Turgeon….for me there is no favorite. What I do like about all 3 is that they have a history of consistent ncaa tourney appearances. That should be the goal every year.

But hiring on the cheap means we can break even if the crowds stay the same. Do it this way and keep slamming money in football and maybe a new cheap coach could win like Sprinkle did at Utah State. (His contract was $ 900,000) I'm not in favor of this, but Harper does have more options than some of us believe.

Again … a great barometer is … how are the fans responding? Are they showing up? Is it an energetic atmosphere. Even successful times, you’ll have some lulls with holidays, an odd start times, really bad opponent, but those should be the acceptable exceptions. Take it on the whole of a season, how is it? If it needs 7 lbs of viagra, things aren’t going well.

I hate for it to happen to any coach because it ends up being a stay of execution, everyone knows what’s going on … and it just plays out.

I wish he had a major epiphany, a light switch went off … but with his style, demeanor, attitude … I don’t have faith that we will see any of that happen. You can’t be the 6th/7th/8th “best team” overall in your conference through your career unless it’s a power conference, can’t do that in a mediocre conference.

You just cross your fingers, hope things change with him and if not, hope a good hire is made.

This interview is a few years old, but it is a good refresher. Hard to know where to stand on this guy. Can definitely coach or, at least, he could last anyone knew, but the dude has mega-baggage. And how radioactive is he when it comes to building a staff? Don't know if UNLV is willing to take on the checkered pasts like they used to. I'll trust Harp on this because I think he's earned a measure of trust, but we can't miss on this.

He will never do anything there. It's his previous two stops where he earned his chops. CSU and Nebraska. He left Nebraska as the 3rd winningest coach in their history and most of us remember how good he was at CSU. I think he made a horrible mistake going to SJSU. Basketball players don't go there. The one season he did really good was because he had one really good player. That player transferred and he doesn't have much to work with.

Good coach, experienced, and has proven he can win at the right place. He would do better at UNLV. Plus he is affordable and that is something to consider instead of all the dream coaches some "think" we can get. CKK compared to Tim has never done shit.

SJSU athletics is terrible and doesnt invest in its programs. Their football program over-performed with Cordero and Brennan. Their own boosters are actively discussing on X spaces how they dont have the NIL money to compete for players so they're looking mainly Juco guys for football.. If football is that bad, why on earth would basketball be any better. Not sure he'd be better but Miles is definitely a better coach and this program lacks good coaching..

You have to admit that SJSU has been getting to bowl games with their meager recruiting and until the last 2 years they were going bowling far more than they should with their poor football program.

I use to long for their kind of success here for the Rebels but now the beast has been poked and UNLV football has been awakened!
