Guys declaring for the NFL draft

DJ Stuckey was our starting RG he's a SR with his covid year left if he wants it. He might end up as a practice squad guy as he can play all three IOL positions, but he'll need to put on weight and muscle to make it happen.

Cobe Bryant was our backup right tackle with his covid eligibility year left. Pro size but not especially strong or great technique. Not sure if this is anything but saying I'm leaving the program and I'm going to try out.

They might make it in the USFL, but again, I think this is more about leaving the school with eligibility still on the table. It's goofy, but that seems to be what the kids these days are doing when they leave a program.

Thank you for clarifying this to me. I haven't stayed up on things in 2022 so I'm just trying to catch up now.

Curious to see what Amani Trigg-Wright (listed as RG starter most of season), Preston Nichols (LG starter), and Daviyon McDaniel (LT starter, moved to RT when Tiger was inj) do as they are all listed as SR.

If all stay it's two starters that need replacement and 7 of 10 in the two-deep coming back. That would be a huge get for the next offense.

Flip it completely with all leaving it's 4 starters and 3 of 10 in the two deep coming back. A huge hurdle.

The portal might help in either case.

I get Plant, our LB, and our kicker making the jump. They may be on radars or have expired their ability to continue to play college football, but did I miss all of the NFL talent that was on our roster this season? I’ll admit that I don’t know these two, but that’s also my point.
I’m sorry but what world are these guys living in? Someone needs to snap them back to reality. 200+ players drafted and there isn’t a G league for football. Embrace that college experience haha.

They won't

Maybe Plant. He's got the size teams are looking for, but has there been a guy at UNLV that recorded near double digit sacks that seemed to disappear more than him?

Maybe some of it was scheme, I don't know.

Ajike had really solid production, but I'm not sure if he's athletic enough overall. Maybe a camp invite?

Plant has decent measurables, but never really produced at an NFL level against relatively poor competition. Not sure he'll get drafted but he'll be a camp invite I think. I also wonder if he would perform better if he got to be a stand up OLB in a 3-4 scheme.

Ajike is a tweener, he's got the speed and athleticism of a 4-3 2 down MLB, but in the body of a strong safety. Might be a special teams/practice squad guy, but feels more like an USFL late rounder to me.

Wow, none of us realized how much NFL talent was on this roster! Lol

I guess the trendy thing to do is to declare for the NFL draft before not being invited to the combine, realizing you won’t be drafted, and pull your name to transfer to Praire View A&M or comparable.

Maybe these guys will still be brought back on the roster once they get feedback from the NFL, or whomever it is that would give them feedback. I'm not saying that any of these guys do or don't have a shot, as I don't know what certain teams may be looking for, but for a sub .500 team in the MWC to have numerous people leaving early to declare for the draft seems off. Wish them the best, but hopefully the new staff can either bring back the ones that won't be drafted, but want to be here, or replace them with solid, immediate impact guys.
