Praerie view is completely outrunning the rebels
15 poins on fast break to zero, and 2 free throws coming up.
2 point ballgame to a 0-5 team.

This team is shredding UNLV up right now. Out running, out hustling, out coaching. I never thought I'd say this but the only reason UNLV is in it so far is free throws 12/13

Derrick Jones I love your game, but after you make a three don't stop and smell the roses, GET BACK ON D.

They picked it up at halftime a bit, but Prarie has really left a lot of points on terrible shooting. The fast breaks have slowed at least. UNLV went to a smaller lineup to start

PV completely ran out of gas right out of the half. Rebels played well enough. Struggled again with the zone and 3/4 press but still a win. On to the next one.

With Zimm out most of game, GL gone, and Jerome out sick I think we did just fine. Sure we struggled defensively in first half but in 2nd half we cranked it up and ran them ragged. Also some of the lineups we put out there because of injury or illness hadn't lined up together before tonight for meaningful minutes

There were some lineup combinations we may not see again. Pat M. has been great, but isn't a true point guard. Much better at the 2 or 3. Zimm was starting to heat up when he went out. Guys just got back from three straight days of games and travel. Add that to guys being sick it was pretty easy to predict an uneven performance.

Thought Green was a nice spark off the bench.

Agree, I think at one point we had Jones, Posyer, McCaw, Green, and I think Morgan on the floor at the same time... I doubt we see that again if ever... But hey it worked, although not ideal.. Also agree Green getting a good run of minutes and points shook off some rust and got him up to speed a bit...

Liked what Green brought to the team. Scouting reports made him seem a little one dimensional. He actually was a little more athletic than I anticipated.

So far Cornish has yet to find his shot, but has played solid defense and been aggressive going to the rim and rebounded pretty well.

Morgan continues to get better. When the game starts to slow down for him a little more he will be even better. He still seems to be pressing just a bit.

As guys get more comfortable with their roles, this could be a very dangerous team by half way point of the year.

I hope they look at the first half game film because they ran the fast break better than I have seen a team run it since the early UNLV teams. I was impressed how they would beat our guys down the court again and again. That's how you run a fast break. The old Anderson Hunt leak out. Also why do they always give up the ball on an out of bounds play to the center. Whoever happens to be at the ball or holding the ball after a made basket should step out and get it going. Over and over I saw them wait on Zimm or someone else to come to the ball and let him inbound it. That's a waste of time.

No a
McCaw might be better at the 2 or 3, but he is more than capable of running point.
No argument from me, it just isn't his best position. I think over the course of an entire season I would rather have Seagears run the point. Pat has improved a lot from last year to this year with ball handling/court awareness. If Seagears were to go for a long stretch we would be ok with Pat at that spot. Would rather have Pat run it than Cook.

How would you know what Cook can do? We haven't seen him in almost 2 years...

Going strictly off of what we saw two years ago.
Maybe his game has developed since then. He never seemed able to consistently break guys down off the dribble and his outside shot hadn't really come along yet. Unless things have changed, Pat is bigger, more athletic, better shooter and can get to the rim. Pat's also shown to be a solid passer with a decent TO to Assist ratio. The only edge I would give Cook might be ball handling.

Maybe Cook's game has improved and he has physically matured over the last two years. But Cook's game 2 years ago vs Pat's game now? I would rather have Pat run the point.
