According to the article linked below. At least we get a little something but, Boise really put it to the other conference members from the MW when renegotiating their deal after the Big East experiment. I really hope Tony Sanchez can get this thing turned around so we can have more of a say moving forward, or at least be attractive enough to make the jump to a power 5 conference someday. I hope that ship hasn't sailed.

The Mountain West's other 11 members will receive $166,666.66 each from Boise State's Fiesta Bowl appearance. (Technically, Boise State's payout above is $4,166,666.66.)

Fiesta Bowl Payout

That's what happens when you have a weak a** mofo like Craig Thompson as the conference commissioner!

The short answer is "yes." BSU negotiated that payout structure figuring that they would be the most likely beneficiary in any given year, and who can argue with that. The flip side is that any MW school that gets into one of the New Years Six bowls would benefit the same way. After expenses, Boise St hopes to clear $1mil.

It's not like the Mountain West was dealing from a position of strength. A short time later, Boise State would have had little choice in the matter, but you couldn't have foreseen how fast things would unravel, even more than they already had.

And even now, it's not like the Mountain West is setting the world on fire. It's just the only place to go between the Big 12 (not an option) and the Pac-12 (not an option).

Another reason UNLV needs to be stronger in football; this conference really could use the lift a good team in a major city can give it.

In regards to football it is fair, but in regards to overall sports it is not. There is no question that UNLV brings in far more money from basketball, and is on national TV far more often than BSU basketball, but UNLV shares the money with the rest of the conference. What is comes down to is that SDSU, NM, and UNLV are given money to BSU for basketball, while BSU keeps the vast percent of TV money from football.

For those that say there is a huge difference in football money to basketball money, that is true in the major conferences, but not so true in the MWC.
