Do you guys ever think UNLV will get the fan base back? The announced crowd was only 11,000. That means there was only about 8,000 people there. A few years ago a Saturday night conference game would get between 14,000 to 16,000 people. Do you think the decline in attendance has anything to do with hockey? Or is it that people don’t care much about Rebel basketball anymore?

Having over 10K at Cashman last night certainly didn't help, but I think the crowds this year have been decent to solid, I've only missed 2-3 games this season and the attendance seems to be around 8K with conference games ticking up. 10k+ last night seems about right as certain sections for the balcony were packed. My issue isn't the attendance, its that the fans don't cheer enough for the Rebs. These guys play an exciting brand of basketball and the fans (how ever many there) need to be cheering like they got that Runnin Rebel Fever.

Play hard like they have been and the fans will be back

We've got about a million UNLV grads where I work. When I ask if they have ever been to a UNLV basketball game, they look at me like I'm speaking in an alien language.

Expect the students to come out for UNR. Other than that, forget it.

Fans were there. Then things got blown up. Went from grown 40+ year old men storming the court with tears streaming down their faces after beating UNC ..... to one and done in the NCAAs. Then not even getting to the NCAA. Then not even getting to ANY post season. Then the final death blow firing Rice mid season. Slow downhill road of suckage leading up to the worst season ever in UNLVs history. It bleed the fans dry.

Start winning and lurking on being ranked, year after year, fans will come back. Make a little noise post season. People will start noticing and hopefully next year and next few, constant improvement and the Mack will get rocking again.

This.

I think fans are taking note. No bad losses the rest of the day, and make noise in the conference tourney. If you win it, obviously that's outstanding, but if you make the finals (or maybe the semis) and the program has shown obvious growth and the offseason isn't a mess, next year will set up well for a return to form. It won't be like the old days and it won't be like the first year or two of CDR. It will be people regaining trust in a program that has let them down for a number of years.

I think you have to do things differently at the university too. You have to bring the students back, and KEEP them there.

Considering all the new fees that the administration keep adding onto the students, for crap they don't want or need, they are turning a lot of students off to the point all they want is to go to class and get back off the campus. This comes from my son, and several other students who just have no desire to be involved with the campus anymore.

Hopefully more fans will start showing up over time. I hope fans will at least come out for the conference tournament. Damn it all!
