Expectations. How many wins?

I think there are only about a half dozen G5 teams, including UNLV, that have an inside track towards the CFP spot for the top G5 conference champion.
1000/1 I would put 1,000 on that. Please post it when the odds do come out.

MWC - Boise/UNLV
CUSA - Liberty/Sam Houston State
AAC -Memphis/Tulane (Maybe Army or Navy)
SBC- Tough one here. A couple solid programs but they tend to cannibalize themselves in conference.
MAC- Same as SBC. One of them will score a big upset (NIU VS Notre Dame) and then lay an egg or two in conference.

More or less fits the number of teams I figure have a legit chance!

Pretty much.

There's usually some team that pops up unexpectedly every year.

I think in order of most likely to get a team into the CFP it goes.

MWC
AAC
SBC
CUSA
MAC

First two seem obvious with Boise, UNLV, Tulane, Memphis and Army/Navy.

I think the MAC s better than CUSA, but, I think it's easier to make a run in CUSA because it's not a very deep conference.

Mullen has a meek personality and looks endearingly awkward at press events but make no mistake that Mullen has a fire in his belly to win and win big. His practices are intense and tough, his expectations are that the players are relentless in the weight room.

Don’t let his media personality fool you, he’s very demanding and has very high expectations. He’s also a tremendous preparation coach, he’ll find the oppositions weakness.

I expect to win the MWC title and go to the CFP. That’s the expectations and that’s what everyone is working hard for. He’s not ****ing around.

11-12 wins.

Every game is winnable. Will depend on how the team gels. With the weak state of the Mtn West, I’d say that 8 wins should be the minimum expectation. If I were to guess, I’d say 9 or 10
I’d expect 8 as the floor, lots of moving parts and tons of new faces. If you say there are 4 “tough” games then I’d say 7-1 in the “easy” games, 2-2 in the “tough” games… so 9.

Everything above 8 is on the table and very possible.

Surpassing last season would be amazing. I’d actually be fine with matching last season. I was joking with undefeated and CFP earlier in this thread, of course.

Surpassing last season kind of implies CFP though. Surpassing last season means winning the MWC championship which could/should be CFP.

I think maintaining our momentum is good enough year one. Do at least what we did last year would be great.

With respect to CFP the uncontrollable piece is the performance of top G5 programs. A school could match our record and conf championship and get the CFP invite bc of a stronger strength of schedule. All we can do is control our own destiny and hope luck is on our side (as it was last season).

Have a third great year, and I expect more heads will turn in regards to UNLV as a potential Power 4 candidate. I keep watching ticket sales, with the hope that they can run towards the 20-25K season ticket sales. It would be great to have the entire first level sold out for the season prior to the first game, and I would love to see 50K+ at the UCLA game.
