New Coach. Nearly new team. New QB. How many wins will we need next year to meet your expectations?

I expect a bowl game. I'd be very happy with 8 wins. Above that would beat.

MTN west stinks. Never forget that

UCLA-Boise should be tough games.

Too early to tell, lots of things can change now!

11-1, 12-0... Dan Mullen didn't come here and assemble this roster to go 8-4 and play in the Arizona Bowl. The MWC is pretty ugly right now, our schedule is super soft including UCLA. This team is built for the CFP

No coach goes anywhere to assemble an 8-4 roster.

But best laid plans and all that.

There's a ton of turnover. Sometimes things just don't gel. Injuries etc.

8-4 is the the 'oh crap injuries hit' scenario.

Mullins first year at Miss. State was 5 - 7. I understand that was SEC but still …..
Miss St was a pretty terrible SEC program before he took over... they had 1 winning season in the 8 prior to his arrival, and he was a first time HC taking over an SEC program...
His first year at Florida he took a 3 win team from the year before and turned it into a 10 win team...

I read somewhere that his SOS was #1 in the country which i believe to be true. They were 4-8 the year before. Not sure if the schedule was as tough.
Obviously Dan worked out fine for them which is why a slightly disappointing year 1 (no CFP or MW championship) is fine. That should be the realistic goal, but i don't consider it the bar for a successful season.

Sam Houston, Miami of Ohio, UCLA and Boise St are the meat on the schedule and if the coaching, development and talent mesh well together, we could see 11 or even 12. But if we are shaky at all 7-9 but I doubt we will be shaky with Mullen here!

High expectations tempered by a LOT of unknowns. if we take some losses they will come early in the season with the possible exception of Boise (assuming no major injuries of course).

Because we are playing G5 opponents, with the exception of UCLA I think Mullen can be as successful as Odom was in his 2 years here. I think at least 10 next year, dropping 2 at worst unless someone other than Boise St is just unreal in winning games and I just don’t see it!

For those thinking 4 losses, which games do you see UNLV losing? (Genuinely interested, not throwing stones.)

I am expecting 8-9 wins, 11-1 is possible but I can’t in good faith make that kind of prediction

I imagine some think we don't mesh early so we lose at Sam Houston and maybe vs UCLA. throw in at Boise and then a road game at either CSU or Wyoming, maybe home vs Hawaii...
I just dont see it.

I don’t expect to lose to anyone on the schedule. Boise on the road will be the toughest game of the year, but Miami and Sam Houston are good teams that can’t be overlooked.
